Look, I'm a die hard ND fan who wants to win just as bad as anyone...But at what point do you feel like you're selling your soul the the devil just for W's?

other than poaching recruits( which u could argue Charlie has done(jonas gray, trevor Robinson), and all the incidents with the arrests and stuff(which is not always the coaches fault) what is so devilish about Meyer?

if meyer had come to ND when he had the option we would all love him... we call him a slime ball because he chose a huge state school over us.... If he wants to coach here...then I am cool with that.

Can you please clarify this? Why is Meyer "the devil"?

Because he stole Hunter and Trattou? Because some of his players get in trouble? Because he didn't suspend Spikes as harshly as we wanted him to be suspended?

So many on this board are so quick to point that the defense's lack of performance is reflective of the players, and Charlie should be free of some of the blame. If we're going to point the finger at players, then why is that not the standard for athletes playing at other schools?

Florida players have gotten into trouble. Notre Dame has had players get into trouble. Why isn't that on the player, just like everyone wants it to be at Notre Dame?

I'm not advocating Meyer and I don't think he comes, but time and time again this comes up and time and time again Meyer is painted as the anti-Christ.

He didn't take the ND job. He took some recruits from us. Sometimes, like all programs, his players are involved in stupid altercations off the field.

Can we please get over it? It's like Ty Willingham Version 2.0. It looks childish.

His demeanour and attitude will change somewhat if/when he comes here. The code of ethics and standards of the university will most definitely change him for the better...

Our guys will be well armed with AK - 47s.

Exactly. He's coached here before as well, so something like this won't be a culture shock to him. He knows what ND is all about.

Okay, all I have to say is, Meyer is a great coach. He wins games. He's not the devil. Everyone needs to stop crying that he chose Florida over us.

He does the same things every other coach does. He just does them better. Every recruit is fair game until signing day. It's also best for the kids to be able to second guess their decisions until signing day in order to make the best decision for their future.

Meyer does what is best for his program, just like ND does by not joining a conference, and for that reason people call us the devil too might I remind you.

I would love to have Meyer.

I think Meyer and the admin would have handled the eye raking situation much MUCH differently on our campus. hell, if they are willing to bench a guy for parking illegally on campus, you think they are going to turn a blind eye on an unsportsmanlike eye raking???

I would love to have Meyer.

Not saying you specifically, but my oh my, how things have changed for those of us who begged for Meyer earlier inthe season, we were HAMMERED...TORN TO SHREDS!!! by guys on the board. I think people's opinions of Urbie changed after loss numero deux to Navy.

We're quick to blame the defensive weaknesses on the players on the field. The coaches are given a pass because "they aren't the ones making the plays."

Why isn't this same standard applied in this case? Did Meyer provide the weapon? Did he arrange the purchase?

Could it maybe be that this guy was a bad apple, made a bad decision, and that it has no reflection of Meyer as a man?

Will Yeatman got drunk and drove on the sidewalk through campus. Does that mean Charlie is less of a man because of it? Does that mean that "our guys will be well armed with Johnnie Walker black and a few handles of Absolut"?

No, it doesn't. It would be ridiculous of me to say that, just like it's ridiculous of you to make your statement.

You're right Rocket. I'll admit to not wanting anything to do with the "who's our next coach" talk earlier in the season. Most of the talk was about Meyer. I'm all for it now. Bring UM on.

Let's not forget our beloved qb that was transporting alcohol and getting wasted with aldridge at the beer Olympics when he was 20.

Bring in Meyer.

Wow, you're awfully defensive about a smartass remark, but if you really want to talk about the issue, let's go. There's a reason the NCAA has a rule about "Institutional Control," because it's the leaders of the program who are in control, making sure things don't happen again. Weis taught his guys a lesson by suspending Yeatman and Powers-Neal. How many issues do we have off the field, now? Talking about college kids drinking or playing beer-lympics is WEAK, too. Compare that to the following article...

Is Meyer really maintaining discipline? 21 arrests and 9 felonies... Is that ONE bad apple? 9 felonies isn't doing a little drinking. If you want to talk a little drinking, I GUARANTEE all of the UF football players do exactly what Jimmy and them did at that party. Plus, smoking Ganj and anything else.

Ridiculous. The bun run has gone on forever. You can't fault him for that.
