Luther Davis is a 6'4" DE from Louisiana. He received an offer from Notre Dame last week. He said he did not speak to a ND coach than but he said if he would have he would have committed right than. It appears that the only thing holding him back from making a committment to ND is contact from the coaches. he was quoted as saying that "Les Miles from LSU sent him a text message a few minutes ago but if Charlie Weis sent me a text message, it would be LSU who?"

He also said "I think Charlie Weis is probably the most phenomenal coach in college football, next to Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno." very fair comment since Charlie has only coached college football for 1 year.

Davis also has offers from Ole Miss, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M.

Looks like #3 won't be too far away.

is it normal to send kids offers without any contact?...seems like weis and the guys are all about knowing the kids, this seems a little out of character, but maybe i just dont know...some buddy call the kids, hes a good dt and would ease some pressure on getting the other ones

WOW broker! :)

I wonder why no coaches?? Grades? Either way another deep South guy where we seldom penetrated before. The way he spoke about Weis is like if this talk is common athlete chatter we have no recruiting worries at all.

Yeah TD, that struck me as a little odd also.

Rivals is showing him as a DE but a 17 year old who is 6'4" and 260 is more like gonna become a DT than a DE.

So is CW in contact with Luther or no.I'm a little confused about the offer and the coaches talking to him. :?:

i guess his brother was recruited by ND, but when Ty got fired he chose arkansas...obviously this family likes ND, and on top of that this kid loves charlie...someone email charlie and tell him to call this kid, and lets put #3 on the board

his brother said he chose Arkansas because ND didn't have a coach at the time. But it wasn't when Ty got fired. It was before the hiring of Ty.

So Broker do you think he will be IRISH? :?:

solely based on his comments I would NOT bet against it. Those were some extremely strong comments.

You know back when I wrote how Coach Weis has changed recruiting forever? It's amusing that even I didn't realise it's at the point now where we no longer wonder if a kid will or won't verb to ND it's why the heck dont the coaches take this guy?

my apologies for the confusion

No need to apologize TD but thank you.

i hear that QUintin Richardson, who everyone has listed as an offensive lineman has been told by ND that he is being recruited as a d-line prospect, he is 6-5 265 sounds to me like another DT prospect, with versatility to go to the offensive line, whever he is need more, broke you know anything more about this?

I know that Richardson is being recruited nationally as both an OL and DL. I have not heard where we are recruiting him for. I do know that Richardson is good friends with Gary Gray and they would not have driven all the way from South Carolina for the junior day if they did not have a genuine interest. So obviously there is a connection with Gray to get Richardson here. Once again it all starts with Jimmy Clausen. Amazing how that works. It's like the 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon. I love the story of how Gray called Jimmy on his drive back home to talk about the ND visit. That says a ton to me.

So here's what CAN be: With Clausen may come Benn, Austin, Tyler, Gray, Richardson. Not saying that is for sure but there is a strong relationship among certain guys there that all comes back to Kevin Bacon, I mean Jimmy.

Only you could follow that broker. Reminds me of Abbot and Costello's routine. Baseball. Who's on first What's on second and I don't know is on third.

John, I don't care who's on first but I do care who's in South Bend.

But a good comparison John.
