I watched the game against USC and think Oregon is a top-3 team. They were unstoppable. They have a unique team with unique talent and a very creative and risk-taking coach who the experts refer to as a young coach with a great mind or something to that effect. Was that game a fluke? Who knows but I'm keeping my eye on them the rest of the season (because they are just plain fun to watch) and if they play the same way they played against USC I don't think there is a team in the country that can beat them even though those teams arguably on paper have more overall talent.

One other issue with respect to Oregon that may affect their "chemistry" is the return of that back who punched a Boise State player in their first game and who has been on suspension since then. Will bringing him back into the starting lineup affect that "chemistry?" Talking heads on ESPN brought this question up. They suggested that rather than put him in a starting role on offense, that they should instead use him in kickoffs and punt returns; otherwise, the well-oiled machine might sputter and he might disrupt the chemistry, consistency, success and incredible momentum and execution of a very creative option oriented offense. Their backs are small but lightening quick and the QB can read defenses exceptionally well and burn you in so many ways, as he did against USC. The returning back is a big bruiser and could potentially slow down the entire offense which could end up out of sync with him in his starting role as a back.

How about a transfer to the front office for the rest of the season - maybe public relations?;)

After watching them the USC game, I would say they are the real deal.......now my only wish is for them to win the PAC10 and O$U win the big Televen and play in the Rose Bowl - and watch Oregon score 100 on them......

id rather see them butt rape penn state.....................

Oregon is much like SC back in '02(I think), a team that had lost two games early in the season, but by the end of the season was probably the best team in the nation. If there was a playoff system in place now, Oregon could be really dangerous. There are still a few games out there and I'll let the rest of the season play out before I get to effusive with them. Let's see how they do after the sky high win against SC, if they come out a little flat against their next opponent. I think they still have to play OSU in the Civil War, which is usually a pretty hard fought game for both squads.

rocke, i watched that game also, to be totally honest Oregon is a good team , but that long run took the wind out of the USC players and they just didn't play Oregon the way they played us, i think USC just didn't get it done , there play making was fair at best their defense was fair at best, but i will give Oregon credit for playing a very aggressive game , and their coaching staff took care of the defense about all day , they may be a top 10 team but not top 3, IMO Alabama LSU and Florida or Iowa would beat them. as for the player returning , that was a mistake on his part , t he team wants him back that might put them in a better position , i just don't feel that there a top team at the moment usc made em look good.

In my opinion...

Oregon would take down Iowa and Ohio St/ Penn St

Oregon beats Cincy and Georgia Tech (although that'd be interesting to see)

Oregon loses to UF and Bama in close games

Oregon gets blown out by Texas (best team in the nation right now)

Β

Just my opinion but I think they've shown they can beat anyone on anyday, just don't think they match up favorably with the big 3 right now (UF, Bama, UT)

I don't know how they'd do against those top 3 either, but I would love to see their offense play that Florida defense.

Also, they would destroy Iowa.

Oregon-- still has four games left-- all against decent teams-- stanford--Arizona State-- Arizonza-- Oregon State--- that is far from a gimmie schedule----- if we have to worry about the likes of uconn-- stanford-- navy & pitt---- then i think the same standard should apply to oregan----- in fact i wouldnt lay the odds of them winning all four of the games-- at 50/50-- ---expect an emotional letdown from this oregon team over the next couple of weeks----- aloha go irish!

Agreed.

Another thing to keep in mind also is CK was hand picked by Bellotti. This team was tailor made for him to take over, the right personnel was in place, no change in scheme.

Remember the ..... 2007 team, with Dixon?? He was on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy and probably the NC, they were a very VERY good team. Then he tore his ACL, I'm pretty sure it already had a minor tear but he played anyway, one run too many and down he went. That was the 1st stone to fall for tOSU to get back into the NC picture that year. So are they good, yea but I'm not sure they're 27 points better than SC, though I must admit it was sure enjoyable watching SC get the ever loving shit kicked out them.

Boise thinks they are pretty good !! Its tough for me living in Oregon and listening to the local honks telling me they should be a top #3 team.... They looked REALLY good aganist Sc but like others said, they got smoked by Boise barely beat Purdue....

The ducks struggled out of the gate but look what they have done since then... closest game was a 7 point win over Utah and a 14 point win over UCLA... they absolutely manhandled Cal, Washington and USC... no doubt in my mind that they could actually be the best college football team at the moment.

The only thing we know for a fact is that last Saturday they were 27 points better than SC.

No doubt, right now they could be the best... I'm just talking about the local honks / Fans saying they should be ranked top 5 or top 3.... The Oregon fans are brutal..

Β

It is a tough question whether they deserve a top 5 ranking... hard to put them in front of BSU because they lost to them and Boise is still undefeated

Β

Bama, Fla, Texas top 3

Β

a combo of Oregon, Cincy, Boise, and TCU would be my next 4

Β

Iowa even though undefeated in a BCS conference sits at 8 for me

Β

This is how I would call it at the moment

Β

1. Bama

2. UF

3. UT

4. Cincy

5. TCU Wins over Clemson, BYU and Air Force more impressive to me than BSU's early win over the Ducks

6. BSU

7. Oregon

8. Iowa

Β

TCU's Wins over Clemson, BYU and Air Force more impressive to me than BSU's early win over the Ducks and I even thought about putting them at 4

Β

HOWEVER... I think Oregon would beat BSU, TCU, Cincy, Iowa and UT right now, probably even UF.
