Does any board member interested in recruiting feel Daynes issue would make a prime high profiled QB give coming to ND another look? And if so who?

Not to be annoying, but his name is spelled "Dayne". And no, I don't think another top-tier QB would all of the sudden jump on board, nor do I think that the staff would offer anyone else.

Your not annoying but very observant. I left the y out of the heading and edited it in the post. I guess if mother nature had not made a mistake I would not be here making some so leave it as is.;)

OK thanks for your opinion, I'm thinking it should create an opportunity for another sad as it is to say that. So no bright QB's on the horizon looking at ND?

I think we got our guys this year. I don't know if guys like Bell and Heap would take a second look anyways, being firm in their commitments.

At first, when it looked like Crist would miss the start of the fall season, I wondered the same thing. But now with it being a 4-6 month injury, I don't see any urgent need. Let's just hope Mr. Crist has a full recovery.

I can see both sides of the coin.

If you're a 5* QB and you want to emulate Jimmy (i.e. be a top QB prospect in your junior year of eligibility), trying to jump on board makes a lot of sense. If Dayne doesn't heal in time and Jimmy take the NFL plunge, you're in a great position to battle for the #1 spot. Assuming you do well, you can hang onto it for 3 years. That has to be enticing.

Flip side...you're trying to verbal to a class that already has 2 good QB prospects. Even if you think you're a hotshot, you're going against 2 gunslingers who are well aware that they could be stepping on campus fighting to be the starting QB. If you lose out, you're going to sit all year and head into the next year in a 4 way fight for the starting job.

While there are some QBs who have offers, I doubt any of them are actionable, and I also doubt anyone will want to jump into a potentially crowded QB situation. For a fall of '10 freshman, ND is a good situation. For another fall of '09 freshman, it's a bad situation.

Rivals has the best qb rated a 4* 5.9/6.1 anyway this year... so according to them anyway, it's not a great qb year.

I love Andrew Hendrix and Tommy Rees is underrated. So our QB situation is fine and Dayne will be fine, do not even worry about him. With how tight scholarships are for ND this recruiting season, I am very happy with our 2 current QB commits.

And Jimmy is coming back!! So will Tate. They won't miss out of this special year in 2010.

we wont see an arm like jimmy's for a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time..............

Don't hold your breath Oklahoma, this article makes a damn good argument against it.

I think Dayne has a better arm than Jimmy all ready. I don't think we'll see the accuracy with the long ball that Jimmy has ever again.

As far as Jimmy leaving I too believe all things point to him leaving. However, stranger things have happen. When asked about it in the post game PC Weis seemed confident that he would be back.

How about the other side of this argument? If Jimmy leaves, and Dayne is still an uncertainty at this point, do we miss out on guys like Prater cuz he's not sure he'll have someone to get him the ball?

not sure what you mean by a better arm. you mean stronger???? i have never seen a more accurate passer at ND than this kid. every pass is spot on. if he had 1/2 the protection that sam bradford or colt mccoy had in their careers, his numbers wouldnt be touched...............

When you're talking in terms of Better Arm, people generally mean stronger. When people talk in terms of accuracy, they say he is much more "accurate" or "polished." Though I think Dayne has the better arm, Jimmy made a case for having a pretty strong arm when he heaved that ball at the half.

Tommy Rees is able to Enroll Early, but not sure if he's going to yet. Eric Hansen mentioned this in a SBT article.
