Not quite what he said.

Edited by Synoptico

He just said that "he is still a commitment". He also said that he has not talked to the Miami coaching staff in 2 weeks. Take it for what it's worth but sure sounds like he is just throwing smokescreen to keep the locals off his back.

I agree and I concur.

I think he likes both and is really torn on making a final decision and that he doesn't even know what he's going to do yet.

being a nebraskan native, this recruitment reminds me of trev robinson's 2 years ago. made the early commitment to unl b/c every good olineman from ne did that and then started to reconsider. i'm starting to get the same vibe from nix

Relax, he's Irish.

I hope he is Irish. Boy this could be one solid class.

I hope he's Irish too. I just don't see why he would come out now and say "I'm a commit to Miami" when everyone in ND thinks he's a silent. At the very least this debunks the "he's a silent rumor"

lets get one thing straight, Nix is not a silent to ND.

Β

Nix still has a couple q? marks with his grades/test scores. Not sure what exactly, but he does have a hurdle or two.

As for the current situation with Nix. I'm not so sure we're in the driver's seat with him like a lot of mods think. Like DJones said, why would he keep reiterating that he's a Miami verbal if he has ND as his leader? If he was so close to committing to ND then why is he still planning OVs to Florida, Miami, & possibly the mystery SEC school. What's the reason he's not naming the mystery SEC school? He did an interview with scout this wk and he was sporting a Miami sweatshirt. I dk, I just dont see how all the ND mods feel so good about him right now when everything he says or does is to the contrary. He said he wants to wait til the season's over then he'll concentrate on recruiting and make his final decision, so we'll have to wait & see. Hopefully ND's last in-home visit can do the trick. Or maybe he's just keeping his options open in case he doesnt qualify. Either way I hope he's Irish, but right now it looks like there's work that needs to be done.

OK, so here is my newest and latest recruiting rumor...

Nix is now also considering a 3rd program...He was recently interviewed and mentioned that he is still committed to Miami, however he has opened the door up to consider Notre Dame and Florida. (DAMN YOU URBAN MEYER!!!)

While Nix was landing scholarship offers left and right, another program kept a close eye on Nix, but needed him to put together another good semester in the classroom before offering. Notre Dame assistant coach Tony Alford kept in touch with Nix, was up front about the school's academic requirements, and told him an Irish offer would be waiting as his GPA continued to go up.

Β

By then, Nix was a regular on the honor roll, and in April of this year, Irish head coach Charlie Weis was able to extend a full ride.

Β

Wiley told his star player that Notre Dame was a great school, but other than that, Nix didn't know a thing about the school in South Bend.

Β

"Growing up, Notre Dame was something I didn't know too much about. It was all about the Floridas and the Miamis and Florida States. My mentor told me I needed to go ask somebody, ask my counselor, who is Notre Dame, just tell them you got offered by Notre Dame and look at their reactions. I talked to a lot of people and said I got offered by this school and that school and this school, and I brought up Notre Dame and their expressions just changed like wow, you got offered by Notre Dame. That's when I came to find out it had to be something special."

Β

Nix got to see for himself in late June, camping at Notre Dame for three days. He took an official visit to the Irish campus in September for the Michigan State game, and returned again in October for the USC game.

Β

"I know now that I can fit in at Notre Dame."

Β

Nix also knows he has a very tough decision ahead of him.

Β

"I'm going to seal the deal probably after football season, a little bit after football season," Nix said. Raines has two more regular season games before the state playoffs begin. "That will give me time to weigh options, and just cut pros and cons, and write things down and talk to a couple coaches.

an offer from meyer is the golden ticket...............

I think that is a positive that he will commit just a little bit after his season. From the article I feel that ND has a great shot at landing him. But if he commits on signing day Florida scares me. But him feeling comfortable at our school really helps. Go to ND son!

it's been known that he's looking at FL, the new news is that there's a mystery SEC team that he's considering, but will not say who.

My guess is Tennessee. What other school would put him up to those kinds of shenanigans?

Β

Okay, maybe a LOT of schools in the SEC, but I digress.

Β

The mods are emphatic about the odds that Nix will end up Irish. Unless we're getting worked over in a big time way, I'm not that worried about it. The kid HAS to say he's committed to Miami - you don't say anything otherwise until you are ready to bail and end up elsewhere, both in your own mind and when it comes to the calendar.

Β

This is what it must have felt like to be Florida with Omar Hunter.
