Is anybody worried about Chris Martin staying with the Irish till signing day? According to Michael Bower of Maxpreps.com he is going to play in the Army All American Bowl, but the Army All American Bowl website makes no conclusive evidence. My point is I believe if he is still with the Irish up until the bowl their is nothing to worry about. Notre Dame has a great reputation at the All American games and luring and keeping recruiting prospects. Additionally I read an article (http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2009/10/07/for-prized-irish-recruit-martin-committment-simply-sparked-more/) which says he is strongly interested in a few other programs. His mother says she believes he committed to Notre Dame early. Martin is the staple of this recruiting class thus far and will be an excellent player in the future at Defensive End. It is imperative that we keep the Chris Martin commitment.

I believe the situation has been made more clear with his last visit.

Right now, he is considered a "solid" commit......but he hasn't completely eliminated continuing to look around.

that is an old article. (pre USC game). i think things are a little different now.............

there was a rivals video (posted in teh joyner folder) that said any concerns he may have had were wiped away with his visit for the sc game.

Just saw the video. Thank you ndcufan.

Chris Martian loves ND, him wanting to take visits is nothing more than to protect himself and give him options that he can pick from if Coach Weis got fired.

Β

If Weis is at ND so will Chris Martin.

There's an article on Rivals that asks whose class will be number 1. It mentions a bunch of the teams and the recruits they are in on. They list Chris Martin under UF as a potential prospect, but don't even MENTION him has a commitment to ND. I was like F you dude. Biased reporting, as usual.

I dislike Meyer more than anyone in college football

Meyer, Poodle, and Spurrier. They all suck.

darn... your right, that doesnt sound good.

"I am still loving the recruiting process. I am still heavily in it," Martin said. "I just recently came back from my visit to Notre Dame but recruiting doesn't stop for me. Coaches are still calling. I am still open to them, still open to taking visits."

This is my opinion and there is no inside information basis for what I am about to say.

I believe if we can sign a couple of these 5-star blue chip recruits, then Martin will be ours. I believe Martin looks at stars, and isn't liking the 3 stars we have been signing.

Β

If we could get Joyner or Henderson or Prator or Ferguson, I believe Martin will honor his commitment. Maybe even if we get Barr or Shaw who are high four stars.

Β

This is just based on me reading his comments and seeing his reaction to all the blue chip recruits at the USC game. I really don't know anything or anyone.

Why does he take every chance he gets to tell the media hes a free agent? He's become annoying to me, and acts like someone who doesnt fit in here.

Β

Maybe he can go play for OJs team that loves that me-first crap.

It is a little bit ignorant to ignore our 3 stars because guys like Utupo, Badger, Lo Wood, Boyd, Hurd, Lombard, Daniel Smith, Bennett Jackson, and Rees I believe are grossly underrated. These guys all have the potential to be as good as Martin. Utupo gets in the backfield constantly and if he adds some size will be better than Martin. Badger is a hitting machine and could be that intimidator that we have been missing. I believe Boyd, Hurd, and Lo Wood are rated low only due to their size. The have the cover skills needed to be 4 or even 5 stars. Lemming said Lombard has been playing with a mean streak and has been playing as well as anyone in the midwest including Seantrel Henderson. Daniel Smith, in my opinion, is a 4 star WR on some sites but I think the kid could be an excellent safety. Bennett Jackson is a speedster that the local scouts say is as good as anyone after the catch. And Rees has put up nasty numbers but can't seem to get any respect.

I really got a good feeling about our class. Unfortunately, I don't like it as much without Martin!

There is nothing wrong about liking attention, it's when it becomes about me rather than team. Being wanted feels great and is good for the ego and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you don't let it go to your head which in most cases it doesn't

Β

If you listen to other recruits you will hear that Martin is recruiting on the behalf of ND.

Β

Sure, he likes the process but this is nothing more than protecting his own ass if Charlie and Co. get fired.
