rumors are that he's going to commit to Corwin tomm night when Corwin goes to his game. This is apparently from his Hurd's cousin.

Β

It would be a great pickup. Another mod said we'd still have room for Joyner, but I'm not sure if it ends our recruitment of Shaw/Riggs. Riggs is all but gone anyway, but Shaw & Riley apparently really want to play with each other and Shaw's leaning towards leaving Cali more than staying.

Thanks Zig!

Three athletic 3* corner's isn't bad at all. They all look great. Hopefully we still get D Riley because I don't see J Shaw isn't going to come to ND, in my opinion.

Good news to hear! I have to agree, I dont see Shaw coming to ND, think thats a USC/OSU battle. Really would love to land Riley though.

I think we would leave a spot open for Shaw and Joyner, but if one of them commits, the other would be left in the cold.

Β

I don't see us getting both anyways, but I think we wouldn't turn one of them down if they wanted to pull the trigger.

Hurd Jr is ranked #120 in ESPN's ranking btw

I watched the video they have of him there and I can say he definitely isnt afraid to get physical and tackle some guys which is good to see.

I dont think we leave Joyner in the cold no matter what. He's one of the 5 best players in the country.

Β

With Walker apparently getting that medical hardship & opening up a schollie it gives us another to work with.

I heard this the other day and bumped the Nix and Hurd thread...It's a done deal. I was told to keep it under wraps until it became official...but since it has reached this board. I will confirm it...

T. Hurd is Irish...

Joyner is very much still in play...in fact the coaches feel as if we lead for him at this point. And if you are worried about bringing in 4 corners...just remember Joyner plays safety in high school and may stay at free safety with us.

as bad as our secondary is, I say we take any that want to join us. Hurd is a great pickup, and I agree that Riggs is gone to UF. Shaw I think will go to USC when it is said and done, and Riley goes elsewhere. So, I think we get Parker / Amerson whomever commits first, and still take Joyner if he wants to.

isn't joyner listed at like 5'8 170? Safety?

Β

CB's play safety in HS sometimes so they can have the most impact on the game, rather than allowing a team to just not throw at them.

Β

Also, am i the only one not suddenly super confident in this kid coming to ND? Why all the talk like he's also in the bag? I understand he liked his visit, but it was an afterthought.

I don't think he is in the bag...not by any means.

Β

But his best friend is Gio Bernard... He has ND rated highly, which is a total change from 2 months ago, when we were described as "also offering..."

Β

Bob Sanders plays safety at 5'8... Joyner could play safety, corner, nickel...wherever. We have seen plenty of 5 star corners washout through time at a variety of schools, so its not a guarantee that he comes to So. Bend, nor is it a guarantee that he is an impact player anywhere he does go.

Β

All I'm saying in terms of Joyner is that we are legit contenders to get him, but nothing is set in stone or nearly considered a lock.

Riley, Shaw and Parker would shock me at this point... Hurd, Amerson and Joyner are the last three DBs that we have a good chance at in my opinion.

did not know gio was his best friend. that makes a small difference in my opinion. still don't think we land him.

Coach,

I think you are right that Riley and Shaw would be a shock. I think Parker is possible, but it will be between him and Amerson whichever commits first. Then we take Hurd and Copper to round out our secondary.

again, pure speculation from my point, however I do know we are in the running.

So Toney Hurd is a solid commit and that gives ND 4 solid DB commitments. Cody Riggs is out of the equation, his loss. That leaves ND with Shaw, Riley, Amerson, Parker, and Joyner on the board. I think pairing up Shaw and Riley would be incredible. Shaw is an excellent corner with great size at 6'1". Riley is also 6'1" with good weight at 200 lbs. for a safety. I believe they will both go to USC or Notre Dame. Shaw is announcing on Christmas day so at least we will not have to wait long. If we do not land these two I would love Joyner and Amerson. I think Parker is a long shot for ND to acquire. I didn't know Joyner and Bernard were best friends, that gives me more confidence for the pickup of Joyner.
