You know you can change the channel right? The game is over at that point...Or are you waiting to hear our great announcers' thought on the game?

i know... it just bothers me.... ND's ads have been such pretentious drivel the last couple years...

putting the alma mater on national TV is in the same league.

That may be true. But, I'll take our games being on TV every week over getting three or four televised games a year. It's a small price to pay as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't even go to college at ND but I enjoy seeing the students and players sing it. I think it is a great tradition. I've been to a couple alimni game watches too and everyone sings along with the tv. Pretty cool IMO.

They SING ALONG? Geez.

I love it, part of the rich football tadition.

Was going to make a post to ask people's thoughts as to whether NBC renews the contract after '15...

maybe it's just me... anyone else think it's pretentious? the words on the bottom of the screen like a sing-a-long?

catering to the national alumni and subway alumni ;)

The people who went to the school appreciate it. Additionally, it's our way to recruit. Our school is better than most, because it stands on values and principles that other schools don't when they are exploiting kids without giving them an education. Our school has a mission that well, all students and alums, certainly believe in. The ads convey that. You may want to look in the mirror if you hold that against the school.

one of the things that i think i felt was surprising during ND games were the commercials for the opposing team. say ND is playing Michigan on NBC, and during a commercial they have one about Michigan. i would be thinking wait a minute why is there a commercial for the other team on ND home network?? ..but i think it comes down to money. im sure NBC gets paid money by the opposing team to show their commercial, and when it comes to the network in the end thats the bottom line.

hahaha, as an alum... i just want to say i think they turn people off who are not inside the bubble of ND. they do not tell the story of the school, or give what i feel is a accurate representative impression of the experience of going to the school.

Β

I thought ads were meant to bring in new and uninitiated people.

My experience at ND was actually spent in large part in a lab, but that's not what defined the experience. I feel that these horrible ads misconstrue the time i spent there... that's not even to get started on the recent one with the girl who prayed to get in... God loved her... but not the schmuck who didnt get accepted... he was cast out with the heathen at marquette or BC. i was truely offened by that ad.

Β

as for the alma mater... it's so campy to show... ehh... anyhow...

that is standard for all games... there is usually an ad for each school, and one for the conferences involved. part of the TV deals usually.

I like the alma mater in its root. Too bad people think it's just a song about the SCHOOL of Notre Dame and not OUR LADY - Notre Dame. When you look at it from the perspective of having a devotion to Our Lady, it's a beautiful thing. When you look at it as a devotion to the school, it's pretty much blasphemous.

I love it, part of the rich football tadition.

why the hell not...............the games go to the last play and they have enough revenue from tv time outs to purchase a third world country..................

I'm an alum and could sing the words in my sleep but I liked how NBC put the words at the bottom and the fact they show it every week--it's like our own infomercial
