still looks lost. gunnell made him look like a fool when he ran to the corner for that touchdown in the second quarter. he never knows where is supposed to be. i dont care if it was a wheel route, get on your man. i'm not even mentioning all the other blown coverages on the subsequent td drive in the 3rd quarter..........

agreed.....

It was a pick play. i would like to know what the coverage was before blaming him. if they were in zone he did the right thing and the outside guy should have been off that pick faster. i think it's worth waiting for the answer to that question.

jon, go back and look at it. he was lost from the moment gunnell lined up....................

He belongs close the line of scrimmage where his aggressiveness would be better utilized. I'd take him off the field completely in obvious passing situations because he is completely lost when it comes to reading and reacting to the play.

he is too small at the LOS.

I did watch it... did you? tell me what the coverage was? im just saying in a zone he takes the inside man off a swtich, and if the outside man was held then it's the outside guys fault...

harrison didnt play well it seemed, there is plenty to pick on, im just trying to make sure he actually deserves this one... he very well may... but im going to try an insist on some objectivity.

He isn't ideal size, but I think he looks a lot more comfortable when the game is simplified for him, ie: go after whoever has the ball in their hands.

On the pick play Smith was looking into the backfield . . . on 3rd and goal from the 7 yard line with Shinskie in the shotgun . . . . It's an obvious passing down and he should have read Gunnell in front of him, not Shinskie.

thats how i saw it...........

Watch the play again. He was looking to his left talking to somebody when the ball was snapped and then got left in the dust. Not a good situation when you're not paying attention. Didnt even see the play coming. Im not going to pile on the kid though because he's busting his ass out there. He looked more effective last year playing LB.

He certainly was more effective last year and has great instincts near the line of scrimmage.

Did you see him make that leap over the defender to get to the quarterback. He could get to 225 next year and be a force near the line of scrimmage. He sure doesn't

make any plays in pass coverage.

It looks like we played a lot of zone yesterday.

A weak, pathetic, gaping zone, but still a zone.

I agree jon, I'll wait until I know exactly what coverage we were in.

I will tell you from my own experience though that in goal line situations, we always manned up after playing zone most of the time.

It's easier to keep track of guys in a shorter area when decisions have to be made quicker.

I think the kid is a great athlete, but he is getting torched sometimes.

He made some great plays later in the game up at the LOS, but let's keep him out of the secondary for now.

He's a liability.

Our DB's all look lost and without any help from the DL, they are absolutely terrrible.

I think Hayseed needs to sit next week and regroup, I think right now he's just lost mentally, missing a start might be a good thing

I was also pretty surprised to see him get the start in the second half.

I thought Sergio did alright.

Not perfect, but who has played perfect for us.

I can't imagine if a guy like sam young had played as poorly as smith, if that was the case they would form a firing squad, not debate his ability to play or what the coverage was

Β

bench him for Sergio slaughter or zeke and move on

My pleasure in watching ND play would go up exponentially if #22 didn't see the field again. I've never seen someone look soo lost - all the time, he's been horrible in every facet ofthe game, I'm actually shocked he see's playing time at all
