Still not going to get my hopes up, but only a few OL like this come around every decade imo.

I don't know. I don't get the "warm fuzzies" when I read that article.

He sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders but Dad made it a point to stress that he wants Seantrel coached up and developed. Not just thrown as a starter because he has just enough talent now to do so and that we need him so much.

Β

Just my take on it.

I don't go all warm and fuzzy either.

If his dad wants player development though, I would put Verducci and what he has done with this line and what he has done in college and the pros up against anyone.

was the whole interview just his dad speaking? I want to hear what he actually has to say

i wanna hear what his mother has to say........................

I too would like comments from himself, if possible rather than a spokesperson. (Even if a Dad) Congratulations on 1,000 posts at DomerDomain irishndfan.:first::cheer2::clap:

congrats irishfan......................

I think the Hendersons are doing due diligence... He's obviously having Seantrel visit all the premier programs around the country to flavor, as he said, region and team.

Β

I do not think he necessarily wants Seantrel to step into a situation like Sam Young. Sam would be so much better off if he had the Freshman year off, instead of playing.

Β

It sounds as though their interest is developing Seantrel as a football student first... and having a good support group. That's just my read though.

Β

I think ND has a good chance if they believe ND has started to develop a competitive line, and academics are important, if not paramount.

Henderson wont be put in that situation. We'll have 2 guys in their 4th yrs in the program at tackle (Dever & Romine). I'm sure they'll be better than Henderson as an incoming frosh. I also wouldnt be surprised if Andrew Nuss took over at Guard and pushed TRob or Chris Stewart out to tackle.

I think Dad is more sold than Seantrel at this point.

Β

That said, he seems like a quiet kid when it comes to recruiting. Floyd was much the same way, and as I recall we started with the "in the bag!" vibes, only to freak out needlessly over Ohio State entering the picture. Not saying Seantrel is just like him, and all Cretin Derham kids are locks, but with the pipeline we've established, there's a chance.

Β

I still don't know if he's a great fit for Notre Dame (kind of like how Reuland got off on the wrong foot, personality wise just didn't click), but I may have been too hasty call this horse race as dead for the Irish. We may yet land him, but its gonna take some time. Also depends on how much of the choice is on the kid, and how much is it a "family" decision.

Their's an interview with Seantrel out their now regarding the visit. He said he likes that SB is a football town and the academics are top notch. It sounds like they snagged him right after his game before he could get to the locker room, so he was a little rushed.

Also dont forget that Ryan Harris is coming from the same place... and he wound up playing on sundays.
