First we need to win out... No questions asked. Must win every game and preferably in some dominating performances against Wash St., BC, Navy and Pitt... That helps with the polls which are a part of the BCS formula.
-------------------------------------
We will need some help along the way...
Must be in the top 12 to be eligible...Here's how we jump up to that point...
Kansas - Must lose to Texas and Missouri. Not exactly tough to imagine...So we have now jumped to #25
South Carolina - Florida needs to blow them out...
...now @ 24
West Virginia - Lose to Cincinnati...However, we would also like them lose to Pittsburgh
...now @ 23
Arizona - Cal, Oregon, ASU, and USC... I can't see them doing any better than splitting
...now @ 22
Wisconsin - Weakest schedule in the Big 10; Michigan at home and @Northwestern could be trap games...So we need Michigan to win here, which will help our strength of schedule, however Wisconsin would likely finish on the outside of the BCS even if they win out, because Iowa, Penn State and Ohio State are all ahead of them in the polls and only two teams per conference can make the BCS...Out by default.
Pittsburgh - Want them to run the table until we get to them...Boom.
...now @20/21
Ohio State - Penn State, Iowa and @ Michigan...Would prefer them to beat PSU and lose to Iowa giving them the driver's seat to the BCS and Michigan beating OSU could also help our strength of schedule...For now let's rule them out by default and losing in conference
...now @19/20
Utah - @ TCU and @ BYU to close the season. I'm hoping for a loss to TCU and beating BYU on the final game of the season, in a rivalry game that keeps BYU's momentum down at the end of the season
...Now @ 18/19
Houston - @ Tulsa; Otherwise an easy schedule to finish up with; making this game critical to our chances... Mark your calendars. November 7th is a critical matchup for us.
...Now @ 17
BYU - TCU and Utah still to go... Likely split will help us out. Ideally losing to Utah and beating TCU...TCU losing earlier than the final week of the season helps us a lot.
...Now @ 16
Oklahoma St -Texas, Texas Tech and @ Oklahoma to finish the syear...Need them to lose to Texas and anything else is irrelevant, as they will be a 3rd team in the Big12 behind Texas and whoever wins the North...I also think Oklahoma wins that game at the end of the year in a rivalry game...keeping them out of the conversation for good.
...Now @ 15
Va Tech - North Carolina is the only .500 team left on their schedule... However, they would be behind Miami and Georgia Tech; meaning they would be out by default.
Penn State - @ Michigan is a trap game; Ohio State also could be trouble. If they lose to Ohio State, they are out and the big ten only sends one team to the BCS...Rose Bowl-Iowa
Mark your calendars for OSU v. PSU
Ga Tech - Georgia is the only tough game on their schedule to close, which is big because if VaTech and Miami can hold serve they would be eliminating VaTech who we don't match up well with...I think they are IN
Oregon - USC and Arizona are ahead for them...and @ Stanford. Oregon loses to USC; but still finishes second in the PAC-10 creates problems.
Miami (FL) - Should be favored in every game down the stretch...They are IN
LSU - Alabama still ahead and the 3rd team in the SEC; no bcs by default
TCU -BYU and Utah are ahead...Someone has to knock them off and preferably lose in the season finale against one another.
USC - Oregon and Arizona are the only ranked teams left, but that shouldn't bother USC
Iowa - @ Ohio State could be a tough one...Otherwise Rose Bowl
Cincinnati - West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Uconn are tough ones ahead
Boise State -No threats left on schedule...
Texas - Oklahoma State, Kansas, and @ Texas A&M
Alabama - LSU, @ Auburn, SEC title game
Florida - Georgia, So. Carolina and Florida State remain...no real threats
So here we have it...
Rose Bowl
Iowa v. USC
(Big Ten Champ v. Pac-10 Champ)
Sugar Bowl
Notre Dame v. Georgia Tech
(At-Large v. ACC Champ)
Fiesta Bowl
Boise State v. Cincinnati
(At-Large v. Big East Champ)
Orange Bowl
Florida v. Miami
(At-Large v. At-Large)
BCS - Championship Bowl Game (Fiesta pt. 2)
Alabama v. Texas
(SEC Champ v. Big 12 Champ) (#1 v. #2)
Outside Looking In... AKA who we screwed over - TCU / Oregon
One team from Big 12 - Texas (Oklahoma State losing to Oklahoma eliminates them)
One team from Big East - Cincinnati (Pitt's loss to ND eliminates them)
One team from Big 10 - Iowa (Penn State loss to OSU kills them)
Two teams from SEC - Alabama
One team from Pac 10 - USC
Two teams from ACC - Georgia Tech will likely win out
At-Large - Florida
At-Large - Miami / VaTech
At-Large - Boise State
At-Large - Notre Dame
