Again, I refuse to compare our current offensive line performance to the last two years of garbage we all saw on Saturdays. I prefer to compare with the best. Verducci agrees, but you don't. I'll side with the coach.

I'm not sure I follow...You won't compare the development of the players from how they as individuals have progressed...you will only compare them and evaluate their development in comparison to how they played in one game this year ??? I'm not sure I follow...

How can you say that player A hasn't developed in spite of him showing significant individual improvement and collective improvement as an Oline...

You may be better off stating, that compared to USC we aren't performing as well, but you can't say that players aren't being developed...by definition it is incorrect, sounds like you are grasping at a familiar argument, but not using any logic in it...

Another similar argument is the signature win argument... While CW won at Pitt in primetime for his first game against a ranked team...and the following weekend won at top 5 Michigan, none of those are to be considered signature wins...when in reality, those critics only want a BCS win or to beat USC, but instead use the phrase signature win order to have their argument come out as a more negative concept towards the staff and head coach...

Quite simply...I don't follow you.

Wash out also goes much faster when you can recruit Juco's to fill in the line gaps.

agree 100%

For those who don't follow, I use USC as the benchmark. While we showed significant improvement with our offense, it was due to great playmakers making plays beyond the inefficiencies of our o-line.

step back from that statement and tell me how a truely great coach would differ in his use of said "playmakers".

Judging on the individual effort against USC, our offensive line is not where it needs to be. I understand that no line is perfect but we have the horses to get close. Last week was not close IMO. One instance. One benchmark. One game to see how we stack up. I get that it's an unpopular opinion. But if you ask most non-biased folk, they would agree that USC's d-line toyed with our o-line, and I find that to be unacceptable.

**and John, I have no idea what you're inferring. I think CW made great calls and our playmakers made great plays.

Our playmakers (clausen/tate) did fine. if we all remember, it was the DL of the other team that gave us yard after yard on penalties. Our first score was set up by a taunting penalty by griffen after he sacked clausen. fresh set of downs and we took advantage.

I understand, and think many would agree that our O-line is not there yet. What we don't agree with it the title of the thread or the implication that the O-line hasn't improved. They have improved. They are closer to USC than they were last year.
