Looks like coach and I agree, while the rest can be content...we want more.

**I'm through saying we progressed based off our last two-years performances. We should be comparing ourselves with the best, not our previous worse

i agree with ya here, and that we could've played better vs. USC, but the thumbs down to OL improvement is where I disagree.

Whats that old saying oh yeah "Rome was built in a day" I am not saying that I am 100% happy with the Oline play and by no means was it perfect. What I am saying and what you apparently fail to recognize is that where we are this year compared to last year....I am at this point pretty damn happy and looking forward to more progress to ignore the progress that has take place is a slap to all the hard work those guys and coach V have put in. I wouldn't expect you to understand unless you have been there in the trenches.

Agree to disagree then..

the difference 2 yr's ago is that basically our whole schedule gave us trouble with the pass rush.

last year's team, it was mostly the teams with better defenses.

this year, so far, it's just been USC. USC's pass rush is better than last year's. Griffen is gonna play on Sundays. Hopefully he leaves this year, but I doubt that happens.

On top of that, the ND OL's have gotten better as the year progressed the last 2 yrs, so they should be even better by year's end.

Verducci is capable of making adjustments, and these players have learned to make adjustments. If you're slinging the ball almost 50 times, the DL just pins their ears back and brings it. Hurries & Sacks are going to happen. The OL battled and made some adjustments. I dont think they're there yet, but they're a lot better than the last 2 yrs.

Again, I refuse to compare our current offensive line performance to the last two years of garbage we all saw on Saturdays. I prefer to compare with the best. Verducci agrees, but you don't. I'll side with the coach.

If you say we have not "Improved" you can't then compare us against another team!!!

To show "improvement" you must compare use against what we were the last two years!!!!

DJ if you are suggesting that there is no improvement - you have to base your comparison from something - what is the something.

Verducci can't say he's happy with the OL, that sould diminish some of their desire to get better - coaches are never happy, its what drives them

I look at last week and form my opinions... USC is what we should compare ourselves to IMO. We looked mediocre against them and I'm not the only one who noticed. That's who I'm comparing to... Last week was telling.

I would agree that we regresses a litlle during the 1st half of the USC game, but most OL are going to struggle with those guys this year.

But the OL is better today than it was on Sept 5th......

I don't care too much about improvement before the USC game... That may sound wrong but like the thesis of this thread, I want it to show against the best. The cream of the crop. I can't wait for the day when we finally measure up.

USC's o-line would look mediocre against USC's D-line you make no sense. Ok ask Verduci if he thinks we have improved from last year...what do you think his response would be. The point is are we elite on the O-line Yet...to that I say no....are we getting there and I would have to say yes....the point is we are getting there ...it is an upward trend...these things do not magically happen....it takes time. atleast aknowledge that fact

Let me ask you something. You said we have not shown improvement. Imrpovement from when til now?

:deadhorse:

Again, our problem is not the coaches. You dance with who brought you. Our administration needs to let up and let our coaches bring in the very best players. Do a background check and keep the thugs out. I can't believe that I am hearing that Seantrel Henderson isn't eligible because of his SAT score. He goes to a private catholic school in Minnesota for G-d's sake! How bad of a kid can he be? Exactly! Stop blaming our coaches for administration mistakes. BTW we have BC coming to town Saturday. I think this is where our focus needs to be! :)

Wrong...

Duncan...clearly improved from 2 years ago when he last played

Olsen...clearly developed into an NFL lineman

Tate...clearly developed into an NFL WR

Clausen...clearly developed into and NFL QB and Heisman hopeful

Rudolph...came in with talent and has only gotten better, and you will see even further growth next season

Parris...clearly improved his talent level, even while receiving minimal game time

Floyd...Stud...

C. Stewart...guy went from guard to nt and now is a starting guard...that's development

McCarthy...

Brian Smith

Ian Williams

...that's a good list to have.

You want to go back in time...

Smardzija

Quinn

T. Laws

Stovall

McKnight

Carlson

All developed and excelled under CW's coaching...

The fact of the matter is Pete Carroll has been at USC for 10 years to get his program where it is at...CW has been here 5...Are we judging them on equal footing? I know patience is a virtue not easily found, but if you can't see this roster developing in terms of front line talent and two deep talent with the youth, than you really can't be helped...

Let's also not forget that CW has had a number of players wash out during this time period (Bartley Webb, Aaron Nagel, Konrad Reuland, James Aldridge's knee problems, matt Carufel, Luke Schmidt, Demetrius Jones, Munir Prince, Will Yeatman, Joseph Fauria, and Richard Jackson all showed up on campus and are either gone or injured to a point where they don't contribute)...That will take a toll on your talent pool as well...not to mention trattou, hunter, benn, etc... who verballed and then de-committed leaving us grasping at straws to replace them...

the poodle went 5-7 and 6-6 his first two seasons. Then he casually went on to lose no more than two games afterwards.

The WASH OUT you mention has to be taken into account, but I believe it is part of CW's legacy. He recruited these guys and did not or could not get them to develop enough to play. Trattou and hunter decided not to come, but would they be where they are now if they did/???
