Under Armour All-American Jordon James (Corona, Calif.) took his third official visit this year to Notre Dame and came home raving about his time in South Bend.

Β

James is one of the nation's elite running backs and has already visited Washington and Cal. The trip to Notre Dame was his first outside the West and the only non-Pac 10 school he plans to visit.

Β

"When I look back at the visit, the first thing that comes to mind for me about is just the game atmosphere," James said. "It was crazy there and it was one of the loudest stadium I've been in. We saw a great game and I really thought they were going to pull it out at the end there.

Β

"Another thing that really stood out, that I liked a lot, was talking with the coaches there. They focused more on academics than anything and barely talked about football. It seemed like they were more concerned with me as a regular person and student than anything else and that was cool. Coach Polian is the one recruiting me and it was good to meet him in person but I talked a lot with Coach Weis and Coach Alford, the running back coach as well."

Β

James was hosted by fellow West Coaster Ethan Johnson (Oregon) and said he got along great with the players and students at the school.

Β

"It was a great match because Ethan and I have very similar personalities," James said. "All the players were great and it was cool meeting the regular students on campus as well. Coach Weis has a policy where he makes all the incoming freshman room with someone who doesn't play a sport and it helps you meet a lot more people. After your first year, you can room with anyone but a lot of of people there were saying they stick to their normal roommates because of the friendships they make.

Β

"It's an incredible campus and there's so much tradition there. They have 58 different churches on campus and my mom and I visited one and it was incredible. The only real negative and it really wasn't even a negative was the weather. I'm not going to lie, it was freezing there but it's nothing I couldn't get used to. My mom loved the place as well and overall, Notre Dame is definitely high on my list."

Β

"In fact, I would say following the visit, I'm considering Notre Dame a lot more than I ever was before. My eyes were definitely opened up to a lot of things there. At Notre Dame, it's not just about football, it's about life after football and the support the students have really prepares them for after they graduate and that's important to me."

As for early playing time and depth charts, James said that's not something he ever concerns him with.

Β

"I haven't even looked at the depth chart at any of my schools really," James said. "Everywhere you go, there is going to be great players already there. The way I figure it, if I go in and work hard, I'll be able to play.

Β

"So far I've had three trips and I'm looking forward to my last two to Arizona and UCLA. My plan is once I finish off my last visit, I'll sit down with my family and evaluate everything and decide where the best place for me is. Right now, everyone has an equal and fair shot."

introduce this kids mom to riley's mom.............................

It's not Weis' policy, it is the University's (at least it used to be). My younger brother and a friend of his from high school were both accepted to ND. Friend wanted to room with my brother and his dad had some connections at ND. So he called Resident Life or whatever and dropped some names and the person said, "Sir, you could be best friends with the Pope and we would still not arrange for your son and his friend to be roommates." Classic. Love ND.

wow those were some rather impressive quotes-- not just good things about us-- but a very bright way of seeing his situation!--- would love to get a commit from a fella like this!-- aloha go irish

I kind of laughed at the part where he talks about the weather. It was a beautiful day out there. If he thought it was cold Saturday, I can't wait to see what he thinks about February. LOL. I'm moving to Florida for the winter this year....literally.

id be happy with either Jordan James or Gio Bernard. IMO both have the talent to get touches right away. James is a burner and Bernard can carry the load. I'd be happy with either RB.

Those are awesome remarks! I think he is an awesome back. I agree with Ziggy that him or Bernard would be great, although I prefer James.

Jordon James possible academic issues start with his SAT. He reports a 3.2 GPA, but has a 850 SAT. I don't know if that is out of 1600 or 2400, but I hope that is out of 1600. I found this on his scout profile, for people who are looking for credibility (even though scout is not known to be credible).

they just want him to take the test again, and I believe he was already going to take it again.

For a regular student at ND when I was there out of a 1600 scale, 1050 was the lowest of the low end. The scores have only been getting higher. When they talk about our players needing higher scores, I have to laugh a little, because 800 was enough to get football players in when I was there.
