...I'll bet anybody on this board that they lose another game this season. Every year we lose to them and say "Oh they are top 3 talented team", "they are arguably the best team" etc. That would be fine and good if they didn't lose to teams like Washington/UCLA/Stanford/Oregon St. So clearly they are beatable, no matter how many stars their players had next to their name in HS. Barkley isn't that good and we made him look like Peyton Manning. Mays is way overrated. A close loss like that makes me think the team has the potential to win out the rest of the season, but let's not make it seem as though we just lost to the 85 Bears here folks...

LOL, now even I know this is crazy talk.

...Tate owned him on both TDs, he's a great athlete who is good against the run, but in coverage he is average...

Mays was neutralized today. I'm not calling him overrated, but the greatest impact he had in the game was 30 yards of penalties called against him.

Wrong again. As this season unfolds you will see that SC won't lose another game and they will probably be in the discussion to play for the NC and deservedly so. Don't confuse young with not that good. They just needed some time to figure things out offensively, but now they are starting to roll and they will continue to do so thru the Pac-10. They are a good team and they would match up very well. with Fla, Tx, Ala, etc on a neutral field at the end of the year.

they will kick the shit out of us again next year...

I think they have two tough conference games. Stanford will test them and I think Oregon might beat them.

What does Stanford do to us?

I know that's a tough game. Hopefully they will play just like Washington.

USC isn't that great? Yes, they are. I think Alabama might be the best team out there, but I think USC is next. They have more talent than anyone. I don't buy into all the recruiting hype, but they pretty much get whoever they want (except Manti, thanks Manti!). Would you really take Florida or Texas over USC? And the main point is, we were 4 yards away. We were missing our best offensive player (sorry Jimmy), have a young defense, started slow, and we were still 4 yards away. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades (and farts), but still 4 yards away against the 2nd best team in the country.

Ill agree that this is the most USC has been down in years.

I also think its pretty disturbing that a true freshman nearly threw for 400 yards.

I think next year is winnable right now, but this was the year to end the steak imo. . .

USC down why? Where are they lacking talent? There is a huge difference between starting a FR because he won the job, as opposed to starting one because you have no other choice (see 2007).

...they had no other choice, Aaron Corp is atrocious and Mitch Mustain isn't that much better...

WHAT?!? Not sure about Corp, but the other 2 were All-American, player of the year, #1 recruits. Regardless, Corp initially won the job, so he must be pretty good. Clearly (to me, at least), USC had options at QB, and Barkley won the job.

The Washington game showed how much Corp stinks. He was the 2nd best QB to come out of California that year and I don't know what has happened to Mustain. Bad move going to SC.

If Jimmy stays, ND will get them next year... That is my heart talking though.. Brutal loss ND had em
