If they scored, I wouldn't have faulted Charlie for going for two...

At that point, what do you have to lose?

If, if, if. If we had a different coach would be my first if.

Things aren't IF so let's put this behind us and move on.

I'd love to know people's thoughts on what they would like Charlie to have done had we scored...it's an honest question...

Would you prefer he kick the XP and head to OT or go for two?

Go for 2!

Win or Die!

Execute the second fake field goal of the game to win by one.

most likely go for 2, especially knowing our defense would struggle to stop USC's offense in OT.

a simple and yes sarcastic answer to your question what do you have to lose?

the game.

saying that, if we wouldve been driving on them and had a fluent offense all game i would say take one and go into ot, but since we were lucky to get down there i say go for the win and toss the dice.

I would rather have had him kick the pat. I mean, you've taken momentum back at that point, so why put it all on one play? Plus, how much more of a miracle can you expect?

I'd kick the extra point for a tie. I say this simply because tho one kick was blocked it is a safe call. PLus mostlikely Weis would have gone for 2...he is a gambler and gratefully we wouldn't have had to hear about his 'cute'play his gambling play.. if it didn't work..

All this is speculation anyway because a man slipped.

I think CW would have kicked the PAT. I would guess that the way the offense was playing in the second half, he would have taken his chances in OT......

I'd go for the XP. The way they were playing that 4th quarter, I truly thought that they would score and if it went to OT I truly thought they would win. Both the offense and defense were playing great at that point.

And I think it is great that I actually felt like they were going to win, even though they didn't. In the past I can't say I had that same faith and thought they would screw it up somehow, or would need to get lucky to win. I think this team has turned a corner.

read he was talking about going for two as they were driving but thought his chances, a frosh QB vs. a returning QB would have been better odds.

if it were me i would've gone for two and get the game over with right then and there. i thought that if the game had gone to OT then i wouldn't have felt confident in ND.

After eight straight, I'd have applauded his efforts although he'd have been roasted had they scored and not converted two...damned if he does, damned if he doesn't...

You're right about this.

Personally I was struggling with this decision [which is funny because a) I have no say in the matter and b) we hadn't even scored].

Β

In the end I think the smart thing would have been to take it to OT. If it took us 3-4 downs just to score a TD then I don't think it would have been smart to move the chips all in on one play.

Β

I felt good about the momentum swinging in our direction and our defense is actually better in the red zone with a shorter field.

Just a fan's opinion who has zero coaching experience!!
