Kevin Hogan's a kid that ND should keep a pulse on for 2011 QB. Has great size, speed and fundamentals...been playing both football and basketball for years and has constantly been playing grades ahead of his level in both sports. Also has great ties to ND and would accept an offer on the spot (not saying thats why we should offer...only pointing out high interest). Dad, Uncle and about a million of his family members went to ND/SMC. Ron Powlus was just there to visit him...

Sounds like the recruiting steam is picking up for Gonzaga QB Kevin Hogan. Rutgers was just out there to visit him per the following Rivals article:

It's premium content so I won't copy what was said...but he continues to talk about the Irish and hint to his high level of interest. Also, I forgot to mention that his uncle is Coley O'Brien (lookup 1966 MSU game).

Completion percentage not great but seems to have big upside with more maturity and adding a little weight.

Kevin Hogan (QB '11) will be attending Notre Dame's junior day on March 20th. There's also a previum write up on him on ESPN affiliate Irish Sports Daily at the following link:

Search for Kevin Hogan on the front home page and you'll find the article. It's a premium article though. I can tell you (from personal knowledge talking with his family) he has offers from Virginia, Maryland, Rutgers and Boston College. Once the article is no longer premium I'll post it on the site.

I thought he said that he was going to try to make it depending on his basketball schedule?

He's got a ton of family history w/ ND though, probably more so that any other prospect in the last couple of years and that includes the Golics

He said that he just decided to go today.

Thanks for the update!

if this kid ends up being recruited heavily or offered i'll finally have some inside info to contribute to the board. probably wouldn't be much of a mystery though cause i'd expect an early commit if he did.

looks like the visit should convince him where is future is . go Irish ;)

I know this kid's uncle and met him and his father a loooonnnng time ago while at ND for a football game. I think it was around 98 so I was young and this kid was obviously very young. He's not exaggerating when he says his whole family has gone to ND/St. Mary's.

I don't know how good he is or if we want him, but I fear being that honest about his interest in ND will probably delay his offer from ND if he's ever going to get one (unless the staff turns out to be crazy about him), because you know the staff knows he'd commit on the spot (presumably). Sad that kids have to play the recruiting game these days.

Coley O'Brian his uncle as mentioned in the article was more then just a "QB at ND during the 60s"----Coley led the irish to their national title in 1966--he came off the bench to bring the irish back in the Game of the Century-- the 10-10 tie with MSU-- and then he led the team to its 51-0 dismantling of USC the following week securing the title for ND--- he was a little gamer who was also a diabetic and had to take insulin often during a game-- so if nothing else he is from good competitive ND stock !-aloha go irish

I heard from his family that he's made his choice. He wants to let the other schools recruiting him know before he makes it public. Should come out soon. This obviously means it's not ND.
