not trying to influence the green out, but i saw a player (im friends with them on facebook, not gonna say the name cause i dont know the rules on that) post a status with a ND blackout shirt, but i think they said it would be cool to have a blackout, although i think it should deff be a GREEN OUT, that would pretty sick. Can the students get all the fans to do it though?

That's the question, and why i'm trying to inform early. Tell your friends!

If it happened I think it would be great. Michigans Maize out and JoePas's white out puts us to shame. All we have at ND is whatever one wears as street clothes.

That being said it is turning cool and if it's cold aint no one wearing just a Tee shirt green or otherwise. At the beginning of the year it would have been grand.

You can just buy a larger green shirt and wear it over: a long sleave, sweatshirt coat. Come on Sir John you've got to think out of the box man! :-P

The greenout/blackout confusion highlights something on which my wife comments when watching any of our home games -- we have too many colors that are acceptable for gameday attire. We have fans dressing in blue, gold, green, white, and sometimes black (and all the ushers in yellow). Go to a Nebraska game and it's all red; a Tennessee game and it's that obnoxious orange. Maybe with the week off between the Washington and Southern Cal games, the word will get out to enough people to wear the same color shirt (or coat, Sir John). Sure would be nice to see a unified and LOUD stadium on Oct. 17.

gosh , this is Notre dame football, blue and gold should be worn . no green, we don't do well with the green. go Irish ;) michigan and penn state can wear whatever.

Green is our color too.....but should only be worn on very special occasions. Too

many times have we brought out the green jerseys and then not lived up to its'

reputation. I think green would be appropriate for the USC game because it is a pivotal

game in our history......

those green jerseys always seem to be slippery or something, i wouldn't mind never seeing them again, don't get me wrong they look nice, but they have some bad mojo attached to them

Green reminds me of tyrone

I prefer to watch games nude.

Watch games nude Rocket? The ushers must be looking the other way.:-o

For those of you that haven't seen this, the official ND site has this write up discussing uniform/jersey colors (part of the traditions). I agree since Holtz brought back the green, they seem to be bad luck. But, green used to be the home jersey color........off and on.

I wasn't knocking a green out, I agree we have too many colors at least in tees. I wish they would keep the same color year by year but that's a marketing gimic. Take the Snoopy Blimp shots of the stadium, only the few students they give tickets to wear a solid color. At least give some cheap gree pompoms away at the gate OR at a REASONABLE price for a throw away item.

looks like our team is going to;) wear white and green numbers, for the SC game . we sure had better win . , but lets get by the tough huskies first. go Irish

I like the idea, unfortunately I've been around ND too long to think it would work....unless they physically handed out 80,000 green shirts at the gates. We have a TON of older fans in the stadium that wouldn't get the message I'm affraid. Also, we are going into the colder months so people would need green sweat shirts, jackets etc. For our situation, I think we should hand out kelly green towels. The terrible towel Irish edition would be cool and WAY easier to pull off.

Pull off.....giggity.
