Highlights are that Clausen has turf toe. X-Rays were negative for a break and he is expected to play Saturday. Is in a boot right now and will be held out of practice today.

Β

Armando is also out today (ankle) but is expect to play Saturday.

Optimistic return for Floyd is 2 months, so probably wont see him in the regular season. Weis said if we were in a bowl, he'd guess Michael would want to play. But, he made a odd comment when asked further. When asked if he wanted Floyd to get a redshirt, he said something to the effect of, if he had Floyd for TWO more years, he'd sign up for that right now. I find that odd, cuz if he got a medical redshirt, he'd be still eligible for THREE years.

Β

Aldridge out until USC.

Regarding Floyd: Weis is not naive enough to think that Floyd would come back for a 5th year. Like he said, he'll play next year and hopefully would want to return his senior year. He realizes that a player with Michael's talent probably won't stick around for the 5th year just because.

I understand that, but it wouldn't be a "5th year" in the traditional sense. It would be a medical redshirt year. I just thought it was odd that his response to Floyd taking a medical redshirt year was that he would sign up for having him for two more years, when in fact he would get three more.

Armando hurt his ankle? I just thought he was nursing his thigh bruise. He's not gonna make it through the year. A guy his size running the way he's running is impressive but we need Jonas/Hughes to prove they cna be counted on. I want Allen healthy in November.

Ahhh, it appears the quote I read wasn't complete, so now it makes more sense:

Β

β€œI hope to have him for two more years,” he stated, β€œlet alone three years. If you give me him for two right now, I’d sign up for that right now.”

Floyd could leave after his junior year, but will certainly leave after his senior year. The medical redshirt could be applied for much later, but it will be inapplicable.

yea i think he was just saying what we all know--that floyd is simply too good to caomeback for a fifth year-- lets just hope we get a healthy michael for 2 more years!

We are getting ahead of ourselves in terms of sending Mr. Floyd to the NFL. He will have to prove that he is durable enough to endure a thirteen game college season, much less a 20+ pro one (counting pre-season and playoffs). These injuries are a bad break (no pun intended) for the young man, but they also represent a disturbing trend that may or may not be connected to 1. conditioning, 2. agility training, and/or 3. an underlying physiological cause.

The only reason Floyd comes back for a FOURTH year is if he think we have a legitimate shot at winning a NC (if we don't so it next year). IMO, if Jimmy comes back next year, Floyd should leave with him. His stock won't get higher than Jimmy throwing to him ...

Haha- best line from the presser- holding Aldridge out for few weeks to have him ready for "whoever we play after the bye".

A big, big Welcome to DomerDomain showtime. Sorry this is late but we have been so busy in STAFF. Welcome aboard:grin:

I would be ecstatic to have Michael Floyd in an Irish uniform anywhere past the 2010 season....as well as he's playing, assuming CW keeps his job, I think Clausen comes back next season and we try to win a national title. And yes, it would be in Floyd's best interest to leave after his junior season when JC goes out the door. As good as Crist hopefully becomes, MF's stock is never going to be higher than with a senior in JC throwing to him. And you know what, the kid is going to be a very good pro.

no we're not.

Adrian Peterson broke the same bone twice in college. Just saying. Kid is a natural. As a freshmen, he convinced me, and a lot of people, that he was the best WR on the team. All that tells me is that he is just a natural at the position and most NFL teams will take that shot. He will probably break a ton of records at ND and be a first rounder.

The guy thought his knee was sticking through his leg at um and only showed disappointment and not pain, I doubt it's conditioning or physiological. He screams playmaker and charlie is right, they're salivating for this type of guy in the league.

I've seen some mock drafts have Floyd as the #2 overall player taken in the 2011 draft. Too early to tell but I would place money on him leaving after next season right now.
