I dont think i can have faith in CW anymore.

Β

Sarkisian did in 3 weeks what weis has been trying for more than 4 seasons now. there are too many smaller programs who dont recruit anywhere near as well and they are all in a much better position than we are.

Β

i got really excited after NDs win today...but then i started thinking and its hard to really be content after a game like today. of course im happy they won, im dissapointed with many aspects of todays game however.

Β

i think i have finally lost faith in big charlie. i dont know what it is, i wish i did, but something is missing. something that so many other teams have that we dont have. Something that a Washington team on a 15 game losing streak has that we haven't had for 10 years.

Β

Let's face it, CW is not going to win us a national championship. its time to continue the trial and error and move on. i just dont see how this program will get so much higher into the elite status under CW.

I find myself in a quandary.

Β

I was talking to one of my boys today before the game. He said today would be a win-win situation. Either we blow them out, in which case we know that Charlie is going to get it done and we are on the right track, or we lose and know we are going to get a new coach. I said but what happens if we play a mediocre game but manage to pull it out in the end? He said well that's the worse case scenario. It leaves us dangling in the wind And that's exactly where we are. We are dangling in the wind.

A win is never a bad thing.... But I see the point.... All he has to do is win the rest of the games, maybe drop 1 or 2 and he will be ok..... I have never felt so crappy after a win... But I'm sure as hell happy they won... The boys showed heart when it counted

for those who want Weis fired, is it worth setting the program back multiple seasons?

isnt this season the first with all Weis players? if Weis was fired would all the current players just hop on board with the new coach?

wasnt it last season with still some leftover Willingham players or even the season before with Willingham players that they were never 100% behind Weis? i remember reading either last season or the season before that some of Willingham's players were never really on the same page as the players Weis brought in. couldnt that happen with these current Weis players if Weis was replaced?

i would hate to see Weis replaced unless it was really necessary IF it meant the entire program would take a 2 to 3+ year step backwards.

i wasnt sure which thread to put this in, but i think Weis tries too hard. people apparently have this thought that Weis is supposed to be this genius offensive play caller and he feels in order to live up to that he has to have outstanding offensive plays that make people go OMG DID YOU SEE THAT!?!?! there are times where he calls a play thats too out there, when a simple call could have done a much better job. the one wildcat play today that has allready been mentioned that had Tate with the ball rolling and looking to pass.. what was he doing that for? that wasnt needed.

Remember back in 2005 when ND beat a 3rd ranked Michigan team in week 2. Michigan ended up losing 5 games. At the time, that seemed like a huge win for the program, but Michigan ended up being an average team. This might be Carroll's worst team since his first year at SC. With that being said I still expect SC to win 9 games, but today they were using an untested QB on the road with their best WR out, so its not really surprising that they didn't play well on offense.

My opinion is that Weis is not the answer for the program as the head coach, but the way our offense has played this season cannot be ignored. I dont know what the deal is with the D, but it really cant come down to CW alone. Tenuta has a great track record as a DC, and had been able to pressure the QB with his blitz packages while at Georgia Tech. Why cant this work for us? None of our blitzes get anywhere near the QB. We have good football players at every position on defense and Tenuta is a great DC, this doesn't make any sense.

I dont think i can have faith in CW anymore.

CW first year we played USC very well and went on to have a better season than most of he analysts predicted. With that being said, SS and NH were the O & D coordinators at USC last year and I think that may have helped out a little.

Β

Β

Before everyone starts roasting CW and praising the efforts of SS, they are both in a fairly similar position. Inheirt a team with a talented QB, an upperclassmen team and both CW and SS are offensive minded head coachs. I can see Wash kind of having the same year that ND had in 2005. Wait another two years to see what happens with Washington, and I bet you see the similarities to the Irish. We both suffered through TW and we already know what that can do to a team a couple years down the road.

Β

It's late and I apologize if there isn't any logic to this post.

When Locker goes they are going to take a step back, because I dont think Montana will be ready yet, but I could be wrong.

Β

But I HIGHLY doubt their OL is going to fall off the face of the earth for 2 years like it did for ND.

Β

Heck we are going to find out shortly just how good this Washington team is. But I highly doubt they have any 3-9 seasons in their near future.

You guys do realize ND beat Michingan St., they are and WERE the 800 LBS monkey on the ND's back.

So now we are gonna jump on firing CW after a win.....based on how other teams perform against other teams?

What people don't understand is, that there is a difference between walking into Husky Stadium and walking into Notre Dame Stadium. USC brought their C game yesterday. When teams play ND, they usually bring their A game. I know it may sound ridiculous, but its true. With the history, tradition, and media attention we get, teams look forward to taking to the Irish, or at least giving it their best shot. With other teams, there are letdowns and less motivation at times.

The whole argument about Sark winning against USC in year one is moot.. Sark coached against the worst USC team in CW's tenure... Our '05 team would have mopped the floor with this present Fight On squad and probably the Wash team as well. To compare a win against a hapless USC team to CW's losses filled with Heisman trophy winners and future NFL stars is completely redonkulous.

Β

No my friend...BC is the 800 lb monkey on our back. They've beaten us 6 years in a row. MSU was definitely monkey number 3 though...right behind USC who has beaten us 7 years in a row. (they get the #2 b/c they've obviously been a better team than ND through those years...we had better teams than BC 5 of those 6 losses so the main monkey goes to BC)

Β

That's a lot of monkeys!

Not to mention, Sark coached at USC for years, probably knew what to expect and Petey and Co.'s tendencies, which im sure really helped UW.

the monkey on ND back is whoever is on the schedule next, and right now that is Purdue. with Weis in hot water, every game is important to win. there really shouldnt be any concern for USC right now with Purdue and Washington ahead of them on the schedule. everyone in the world knows USC football is tough, but ND plays Washington the week before so they better forget about USC until its time to play USC and concentrate on Purdue first and then Washington.

So what the hell are we going to say if we lose to this version of fight on again this year?
