Interesting. Always wanted to see Walls atop the depth chart, hopefully McNeil has been playing great with Walls' nicked up.

So Walls won't be starting against Nevada then?

Interesting.

I also wonder how Ethan feels about getting moved inside to D tackle.

It's a lot harder to make plays on the inside, but there are way fewer great D tackles in college than there are D ends.

Could be a great career move (NFL).

Dont like Aldridge at KR. I know you wanna throw him a bone but that's not it. He's not dynamic out of the backfield so we'll give him the KR duties? doesn't make sense.

Evans isn't listed in the 2 deep at X or Y....doesn't mean he won't be in during 3 WR sets at all.

Forget anything after the starters at LB. It's so fluid with the Nickel LB's etc. (Filer will play, as will Teo).

I really hope Walls gets healthy takes that spot back from McNeil.

Walls will def play alot. But the odds of him starting after missing a wk and half of camp were slim after missing a yr.

Ethan primarily played DT last yr as well.

Filer will def play as well, he's going to be mixed in at SLB and also DE in nickel situations.

i like seeing jonas gray as the #2 guy even if it is because of the suspenion of hughes. gray should get some good playing time against nevada.

I like Alridge at KR, as long as he is not returning to many. He is a better blocker than Allen or Tate.

I've been away for the past few weeks, when did Hughes get suspended and do we know for what?

Any idea whether Jonas Gray's backup slot is a result of Robert Hughes having to sit out the first half of the game because that Southern Cal punk mixed it up with him last November? Or has Gray just shown more in practices?

I find it quite interesting that after all the talk about how dominant Paul Duncan has been in fall camp that Matt Romine is now possibly the starter. Also a bit surprised that Chris Stewart and Dan Wenger are co-starters. A bad few weeks for Stewart or an impressive showing by Wenger?

for defending his teammates (or as the media says "fighting") during the sc game. i believe it only lasts for the first half, though.

Gray being the #2 is a combo of both things you said. Hughes being suspended for the 1st half and Gray earning playing time.

Duncan is the starter, it's more of a testament to how well Romine has played. Duncan and Stewart are the starters, but Romine & Wenger will both play. CW explained it this way.

Aldridge returning? how many teams have used a fullback for returns?

I think Wood coming in at 220 lbs was unnecessary and probably hurt his chances at KR. I still think he'll be in the mix there eventually, there's no way he's worse than Aldridge at KR.

Also, I'd still think Tate/Allen are the best bets there. If we are willing to risk Tate/Allen for punt return duties why not kick return duties?

I think its a continuation of the Trevor Robinson experiment. Sadly, there is a possibility that the staff feels like he needs direct competition for playing time. Stewart is a monster so as long as the staff keeps him motivated, good things should happen.

i don't like the idea of having aldrigde as a KR, he's not fast or elusive enough. my picks would be allen, tate, riddick and shaq or even walls.

Well the way the new depth chart shook out, there will only be one for sure returning starter with Stewart a fifth year candidate. Some of those younger guys will have to get valuable minutes this year so that we don't have a green line again. Wenger's a fifth year candidate as well. As it stands now, Wenger, Stewart and Robinson may all return that have a considerable amount of game minutes logged. It would make perfect sense to get younger guys time this year because some of them will be seeing a whole lot of time next year.

I'm surprised about Walls too and Aldridge returning kicks. Not sure what the logic is there.

JA is back for kick offs but he will not be taking the KO's riddick will be taking almost all the kickoffs. JA will block for kick offs.

Did he really?

I just remember seeing him on the edge a lot, at least early in the season.

Was that explained in a presser or just what you hope is the case? Cause even though Riddick hasn't done anything yet I kick to Aldridge if I'm Nevada

i dont think there really is that much to talk about with the depth chart----Hughes who got thrown out of the last game at USC--and is suspended so its not surprising not to see him there-- plus jonas has been doing well-- see that last (80 yard run )-----i am surprised to see parris in over evans-- but again -- robbie is the veteran and i think evans will have to play himself in there and not get handed it---- mcneil over walls-- is obviously all about the hamstring----burger at fullback sorta makes sense too for some formations hes still like a TE back there.

whoever said disregard the LB depth chart is very correct--- there will be a ton of during the game shuffling--- guys like filer and manti will be in on many if not most plays---they have practiced alot of 6 dbacks so thats the same for sergio and walls-----

IMO the only surprising thing in this depth chart is seeing aldridge at KR-- that is a head scratcher??---- i think forever irish must be correct here-- riddick is the guy they want-- so aldridge is more of an experiment as a blocking kick returner----

i expected to see evans over parris but

i expected allen and wood at KR--- riddick must have really wowed em-- since allen took the only one back all the way since 2002-- its surprising

Hughes will play alot in half two i expect--- all in all a few curious changes--but pretty much what we expected
