Well, heck, it's the off season. Just some speculation because ESPN has

been putting it out there that Clausen may well go pro after this year.

I say, no worries. He comes back for another TITLE RUN. Things he will

consider is the fact that Colt McCoy, Bradford and Tebow all come out

after this season. These are the top 3 in last years' Heisman race. They

will start the season in the pole position this year but Jimmy will make a

run.

Think about it. Jimmy will adorn the covers of many of the summer football

publications along with Floyd, Rudolph and hopefully Tate. I sure hope

Golden stays for his senior year and I predict he will too. It should be a

great time to be IRISH.

The one thing I am concerned about is his age. He's at least a year older than most people in the same grade. I noted this in a thread a few weeks ago, Jimmy is older than Matthew Stafford. Think about it.

If he kills it this year, I could see him going pro. Not to mention I think as a QB he's drafted before Tebow (provided, as mentioned, he blossoms and has a great season).

Scary to even think about that, but Crist is no slouch and the experience at Notre Dame

as the quarterback is second to nothing. Brady Quinn became known to the whole world.

Even here in Soonerland they knew all about this kid. I know I wouldn't be leaving until

I had to go. Jimmy will be successfull no matter what. How old is Jimmy?

Unless he wins the Heisman and has an absurd leap in TD/INT ratio, he's coming back.

Right now, he wouldn't grade as a first day pick. I don't see Jimmy leaving unless he has a chance to be a top 10 pick...and with it looking to be a very deep QB draft, that's unlikely.

So unless he wins the Heisman and has a 5 TD, 450 yard BCS bowl game -- I'd say yes, he's coming back.

NO DOUBT Jimmy is back in 2010.

iSLAND I AGREE, jc STILL HAS A LOT TO LEARN TO BE A PRO QB AND ANOTHER YEAR WOULD PUT HIM AT THE TOP OF THE HEAP , RIGHT NOW HE JUST MAKES THE TOP TEN LIST IMO . GO IRISH :p;)

Business speaking, he'll be back. Millions of dollars at stake give me confidence that Jimmy will be back--and back in a big way I might add. :)

If he doesn't come back it will be because his dad got him a good job...

Too many QBs in 2010-- even with a stellar year-- an ND QB-- who had surgery for bone spurs two years earlier-- will slip well into round 2

IN 2011 Jimmy will be the FIRST QB TAKEN-- TOP 5 PICK-- AND RICH BEYOND THE DREAMS OF AVARICE--- he will be back-- count on it!!!

I think Clausen will be back for his Sr season but I'll go along with the discussion. Lets say he has the year we think/hope he will. 10+ wins, a trip to a BCS game, and puts up great numbers all year. Add in the coaching he's received and his draft stock will take off.

One thing Clausen has shown is the ability to make every throw a QB has to make. He would be a star during the t-shirt/shorts workouts at the NFL combine. Any offensive coach would think they could solve his problem of locking in on one receiver. All the other top QB's have questions about their games as well. Tebow-does his style translate to the NFL? LeFevour-level of competition? McCoy-arm strength? Bradford-can he handle the pass rush/blitz as he struggled against Florida. I'm not saying he should or would be drafted ahead of any of these guys, but funny things happen after the football season ends. The scouts have to much time to pick apart players before the draft.

A HUGE factor in his decision is the possible Rookie Pay Scale that Roger Goddell wants to put in place. Goddell stated the pay scale would not be implemented by the 2010 Draft because they didn't want a bunch of Jr's coming out for the 2009 Draft due to the possible pay scale. The NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement is expiring and lets say they agree to a new contract that includes a Rookie Pay Scale starting with the 2011 Draft. The rookies would lose a huge amount of money. Depending on how drastic the cuts are, a late 1st round pick in 2010 could make more money than a top ten pick in 2011.

I think he'll stay and he's said he would be here for four years but you never know how it will play out.

I think he might also want to get his degree.....

It's funny that ESPN says that Jimmy can't stand tall with other top QB's, and then say he will go pro in the next sentence. That pretty well sums up how full of @#$! they are, and how the ND bashing continues.

Yep to many other elite QB's... And he will have unfinished business :D He wants a title and he will have a good look in 2010

You're right. This is one of the many things that ESPN does that doesn't make sense.

He said he wanted to lead ND to 4 NCs and so far he's gotten none. Plus he also strikes me as the type who wants his degree. Of course, he may get his degree before the start of 2011 season, I don't know.
