Focus 2007 - OL Miles Stroter

One of the top offensive linemen in the state of Illinois received his first scholarship offer in the mail yesterday. Miles Stroter, a 6-foot-5, 305-pounder, from Chicago (King) received an offer from the University of Illinois. Stroter talks junior days, camps and early favorites.

"Illinois sent me a letter with an offer in the mail," Miles Stroter said. "Notre Dame , Illinois, Iowa , Ohio State , Wisconsin , Nebraska , Miami , Florida and Florida State are all sending me hand-written letters.

"Right now my favorites are Miami, Michigan , Notre Dame, Ohio State, Illinois and Iowa. I've been to a junior day at Notre Dame and I had a real good time. The coaches at Notre Dame are all good guys and they're very personable.

"Everyone is equal right now but Notre Dame is a school that I can say that I have a lot of interest in. I went to the Michigan State game last year in South Bend. They have great fans and the facilities are brand new.

"I also went to a Michigan game last year when they played Northern Illinois . I visited Illinois when they played Michigan State and Northwestern when they played Iowa."

We asked Storter what his plans are for in the near future.

"I'm going to junior days at Northwestern (March 4), Illinois and Miami in February." Stroter said. "I haven't made any plans on camps yet."

Stroter wil be four-year varsity starter in 2006. He started on the offensive side of the ball his freshman and sophomore years and he started on both sides of the football as a junior. Miles was named all-city as a junior and was named a junior All-American by the USA Today.

awesome news chiro.

Is it? could it just mean that we are less confident with James Wilson if we do offer Stroter. I think the staff's goal is 4 OL. 2 OT, 1G and 1 swing guy. IMO, ideal and very possible OL class: 2OT: Ryan Miller, Lee Ziemba. 1 OG: James Wilson. 1 Swing guy: Matt Romine

Offer to Stroter could mean lack of confidence the recruitment of someone else.

Just thinking out loud, is there anychance any of the O-lineman we are recruiting could possibly be switched over to D-Line? With the tremendous O-line we brought in with last yrs class, I'd have to agree that we don't need 5 O-Lineman this class, as mentioned 4 would probably be a better number.

the 5 on our radar right now all project as o-line, if anyone in the last years class was to move it would be olsen but the lack of depth this year wont allow to happen, and with the dt's we land this year we wont need anyone to switch, we will get three do not worry
