uhh, i'll agree that he has great size and he seems like a great kid but he looks awkward. I think he's the last of the WR offers we have that I'd want to commit, or maybe Priester if he's being offered as a WR. How many "red zone targets" do you need? Daniel Smith is great at going up at getting the ball, but is slow. We already have one of those in hand. This Coleman kid doesn't appear to be half the player Kamara was coming out of HS and he's fighting with 2 other big young talented WR's with 4 years of eligibility for the 3rd spot.

Also, we've thrown fades to Tate this year instead of Rudolph or Kamara. So the idea of getting a guy just to be the red zone WR isn't really accurate. He just doesn't seem to bring much to the table except size and a good attitude.

He seems like an ND guy, but I do agree I would take any of Jones, Prater, and McCay and after that I wouldn't bother.

i agree. he does have good size but like chris said he looks a little awkward running routes and doing drills and his speed is something of a question mark for a tall kid. i'm all for landing 6'6 WRs but im not real sure about this kid. i'd rather land corey cooper at WR, someone who's 6'1 200 lbs. with good hands and real good speed.

If you were 6'6" at 16 or 17, you might be all knees and elbows as well especially when doing staggered sprints etc kinda like a puppy with giant paws... so I get the concern with coordination and whether or not we need "another red-zone" threat but what I thought was encouraging about watching the tape was when Brandon was upright and running routes, he blew by and lost every DB that tried to run with him. Once he was on his 2nd/3rd stride, he was pretty graceful and should good body control. He need to reach up and catch ball at a higher point to take advantage of his size but as many before him, he will only get better and stronger at controlling his very large and growing chassis, he has probably only had a driver license for a year so give him a second to grow into his body....I'd take him. : )

ok than watch film of Jonathon Baldwin and tell me how he compares to that 6'6" WR or Kamara. Or even John Goodman who's 6'4" but way more agile, fast, and productive.

Chris, I get it but b/c he is not like anyone you named as a junior in high school has little or no bearing on what he will be like in 3 years when we need him. Everyone develops at different speeds and so what if he is not a polished...he looked good in stride and had no problem creating separation, now let nature take his course and he looks to be a good bet in the near future. There are far too many stories of superstars in all sports that were all gangly with tons of potential will teenagers and then all came together and even more of the jocks who peak in high school....kid looks good to me, I'd still take him...good kid too

those are overly rosy colored glasses you're using. I'm all for getting the raw talents who have higher ceilings. I've always said that. I just don't see it with this kid. I'm not big on Daniel Smith but Smith appears to be a much better prospect than this kid, given the little evidence we have to go on. His ESPN.com film was like a hatchet job on him. He looked awful

He looked awkward but he got open.

The recruiting at WR during the CW era has arguably been the best of all positions. What reason do we have to think that this kid doesn't deserve the offer. Not every kid is Michael Floyd. You have to take some players who are more of a pallet for instruction. A WR with nice speed and soft hands that stands 6 foot 6 sounds like a kid with a huge upside. I like his attitude and his potential. There's nothing wrong with taking a player that needs a little development at a position where you're already deep. Besides, I seem to remember a certain Shark that was tall and gangly when he was 17.

two things. Everyone gets open in those 1 on 1 drills at camp.

more importantly i think we need to stop throwing samardzija's name around with tall WR's. That kid was special and it showed on the high school field, like Floyd did, even more so than a Shaq Evans. He got discounted because he played in Indiana and probably because he was white. Click on the link to his HS film on his site and watch it to the end and tell me you think he compares at all to this Coleman kid.

He looks 100% more agile/coordinated than Kamara's HS film (which was good) who looks 100% more agile/coordinated than Coleman does on film.

I wish some of those passes had been thrown higher so we could see if he could go up.

I am assuming that he can because it mentioned his strength being able to catch the

ball. 6' 6" is always going to look a bit awkward at that age. I thought he looked

pretty fluid for his age and height. If he can go up, and or bring it in over his shoulder,

I want him. When you can catch the ball at a higher point then anyone else you are

always open. Stovall did not develope immediately. He did not get to balls he should

have come down with. He didn't develope until Charlie got hold of him. I have been

yearning for another Stovall and this kid certainly has loads of potential. I want to see

the tough catch. I want to see him go up. My bet is he CAN.

One more point. We now have a lot of depth at this position. This kid wouldn't

play as a freshman. Can you imagine what he might look like in 5 years with his

work ethic? I say NFL.

I like this kid. He looks a lot faster than I thought he would based on everyone's comments above...I expected a slow gangly dude with no skills. To me he moves well and appears to blow by guys when he runs straight ahead...granted his moves appear a little awkward due to his size, but he supposed to run a 4.5. Bulk him up and play him as a TE and he would be quick against any LB...

If you want to see the next potential Stovall look no further than Prater. Now that kid is fluid and natural.
