Not out of the question for Jimmy to leave after this year for the NFL??????

And I thought guys on this board were drinking too much Kool-Aide?

But I like our back-up quarterback and how many schools would trip over themselves to have this guy as their starter?

JC is the man at the moment. Dayne's time is coming. He will be a great one but I really doubt that anyone will ever beat JC's records that he will have attained before heading to the No Freakin Loser (NFL) league!

And I agree... he will be great and set a bunch of records (likely this year and most definately next) but there is no way he could play pro ball starting next fall. The next question is, how long will those records hold up when Dayne comes in to take the helm?

Great article, but like Kevin I said to myself "What is this guy smoking saying Jimmy to the NFL??? they would eat him up right now.

One concern about Jimmy leaving after this year- his age. If he lights it up this year, it may be better draft wise to come out than to stay.

Think about this- he's older than Matt Stafford.

I think that JC will stay for his senior year, no matter how well he does this year. Next years draft is going to be pretty solid at QB (McCoy, Tebow, Bradford, etc.....), if he stays for his senior year, I can't off the top of my head think who would/could be better than him......

Yeah, as you said, with McCoy, Tebow, and Bradford definitely coming out...JC would be an idiot not to stay for his Senior year regardless of how well he plays this year.

i agree but don't automatically put tebow in the same breath as mccoy and bradford as far as NFL first-rounders go. now before all the tebow lovers go ape, i think he's a fantastic college qb and great leader, yada, yada but i don't see him being a first round pick. hell, he might not even end up as a first day pick...

If Dayne only has 2 years of playing time, it will be almost impossible to touch JC's records.

Assuming he sets them, which he better!

JC could go pro if he puts up numbers like 80 TD's, 0 picks, ND wins the NC, and he wins the Heisman by a gzillion votes to none for anyone else...just saying it's possible, but not likely. If he wants to play in the NFL, he comes back for his 4th year of learning from CW, he knows all of his brothers failed and he doesn't want to screw it up...or CW gets fired and he leaves early

there is a SLIGHT possibility of him leaving early...I'm taking his age into account. Even though he's gonna be a junior this upcoming season, he's already 21, and will be 22 by the Purdue game. If he waits till the 2011 draft to declare, he'll be 23 turning 24. That might be a factor in his decision.

and i think he would actually improve his stock come combine time cuz he has always been a good "workout" qb, if ya know what i mean. the kid can make all the throws.

The only kid I can think is that QB from Baylor, he's an absolute stud. Even then, him and Jimmy would be top 2 QBs, if no one else comes out. I think that kid would be leaving as a Junior as well.

From an age standpoint, I could see Jimmy benefiting from coming out next year due to his age. Even then, I don't see him passing Bradford or McCoy on many peoples' draft boards.

Who knows what will happen. A lot can change in a year. If Jimmy goes to the draft it will likely be due to a great season with the Irish, so I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world. Trying to be optimistic in any scenario.

Tebow will be a first rounder...whether he ends up sticking at QB is debatable. He could be converted into a serious fullback or something.

Fact is... field leadership is hard to find... it often defines greatness.

He's a superior physical specimen and his intangibles are off the charts. He's a friggin' Heisman winner, and two-time National Champion.

I am in the boat that Tebow will not be a first round guy - I think he is a third round guy - the NFL is full of freaks of nature - I agree he has great leadership skills but he does not have a true position in the NFL
