I had a dream last night that ND put up 48 points in the first half of the first game! Evidently, I passed out and woke up with one minute left to go and was ticked that I missed all the action. I didn't miss the last touchdown where Armando, and Blanton were fighting for the ball all the way down the field and Mondo lateraled the ball to Tate for the TD! Go Irish! Pretty sad when ND football is a 40 year olds dream with five months to kick off!

Pick up a copy of The Sporting News and read the full article. It is a good one. There is nothing wrong with what Clausen says. He is sticking up for his coach. Some people will find fault in anything.

Does anybody else out there think there is about a tank full of gas worth of territory between playing for a National Title and playing to keep your coach employed?

Just sayin'.

Got a first time poster here. I have been reading this board for a while & it is definetly the most informative out of all of them out there. Keep up the good work.

On this Clausen topic, I love it. It is the first time I have seen him actually take a leadership role while here at ND, & it is exactly what he needs to do and what the team needs from him. He was outspoken before he started (his commitment circus), but since he has been here he has pretty much been beaten down by opposing teams & fans alike. This is someone that was thrown in the worst imaginable situation his first year and is still standing 2 years later & finally coming through that fire as a leader for this team (which is exactly what they need on the offensive side of the ball).

The big question will be if this leadership role is shown in the huddle when the team needs a big play in the 4th quarter & if those other 10 players in the huddle believe in him to pull off a victory. I believe he has turned this corner and he will lead the team to a victory when the chips are down, but we will see come this fall.

Welcome to DD Vandy !!! Are you a Vontez Duff fan??? (#34) ?

This Guarantee is a non story IMO.. I sure hope Weis doesn't get fired, that would mean a 10+ win season!!

The 34 is from my favorite number in high school, but I always did appreciate Vontez returning a kick for a touchdown.

I agree with this being a non-story overall, but I just like the fact that he is taking ownership & leading the team.

I always think of Sweetness when I think of 34. Just like OJ is called to mind when I see 32 (even after everything else that happened).

Welcome to DD Vandy. :)
