April 24, 200916 yr In the story, Clausen says this: "I'm taking it personally. Coach Weis will not get fired because of me." What was the discussion or question leading to Jimmy saying this? Is there something more I'm missing? It's hard to really decipher what Clausen means. Matt Hayes had to ask something about the firing rumors. I personally think #7's defending his coach. And yes, I like it.
April 24, 200916 yr I think jimmy is just verbalizing what most of the players and coaches are thinking------ they know charlie is on a bubble--- verducci, hart and alford-- dont want charlie fired cause he hired them--- mr tenuta doesnt want charlie or his reputation soiled anymore-- not on his account--- the OLINE saw one coach go-- they sure dont want there play to be the reason charlie gets canned-- armando, robert ,james ,and jonas--- dont want charlie fired cause his offense cant run-- and on and on----- JIMMY has just manned up and said what the whole team would like to say-- charlie wont get fired cause of us!!!!!!!!!_____________AND HE WONT BE FIRED AFTER WINNING HIS FIRST BCS IN THREE ATTEMPTS !!!
April 24, 200916 yr The quote is taken out of context. The Sporting News is just trying to sell magazines, all of us are smart enough to realize this. The ND haters are going to overreact though. I will be shocked if Clausen doesn't have one of the better seasons in College Football.
April 24, 200916 yr No players should be saying anything like this to the press. It just gives the "Weis is on the bubble" story legs. Its bad for recruiting. He probably meant well but from what Ive seen he isnt the best in interviews. Crist for example comes across as much more intelligent.
