It seems like Notre Dame football is at a major crossroads, with significant changes happening after an impressive 14-2 season. Despite the success, it's clear that the program's staff turnover is creating some big challenges for head coach Marcus Freeman. But it also looks like Freeman is working diligently to navigate these changes by bringing in some strong new hires.
Chris Ash replaces Al Golden
The decision to replace Al Golden with Chris Ash seems strategic, especially considering Ash's background with defensive backs and his leadership beside Luke Fickell. Golden's style was clearly popular, so it'll be interesting to see if Ash’s fiery approach can maintain that same level of success. His expertise should complement the strong defensive talent already present, but the transition could still have its bumps.
Ja’Juan Seider is a big get
With the talented trio of Jerimiyah Love, Jadarian Price, and Aneyas Williams at running back, having someone with Seider’s track record will certainly keep that position as a strength. His experience with developing 1,000-yard rushers at Penn State is a major win for the Irish.
A new GM (Mike Martin)
The search for a new General Manager is definitely an intriguing one. The evolving nature of college football’s rules around recruiting, the transfer portal, and NIL demands a savvy, experienced leader. Mike Martin seems like an excellent choice to help navigate this new era, and building out a robust scouting department could help the Irish gain an edge on the competition, especially with such a complex landscape.
Building for Long-Term Success
All in all, Marcus Freeman is making moves to stay ahead of the curve, and while there are inevitable challenges, these hires could help position Notre Dame for continued success. It's exciting to see how these changes will unfold and if they'll pay off in the long run. What do you think of these moves? Does the future of Notre Dame football look bright to you?
I think there is a prevailing view about manti-- thats yes he is and will be a great player-- but he is still just a freshman-- that with only fall practice he will at best have to work his way into a lineup with alot of pretty good linebackers, many with experience.------that seems like a sound analysis but i very much disagree--IMO Manti will start against nevada!
When charlie was asked about where manti fits -- it was very telling---he said that Manti can play any of the three linebacker positions-- so when he gets on campus they will evaluate which of the three is the weakest and let him compete for that spot
charlie ,of course , will not redshirt this man that may be on a mission-- so he will play-- he can play all spots-- the question is when will he play?
here is a quick review in case any of you have forgotten why manti is the best defensive recruit ND may have ever reeled in
USA today national defensive player of the year-- parade all american-- Butkus award winner-- 5 star player everywhere-- no 1 linebacker everywhere-- ESPN no 2 player in the country-- scout no 6 player-- rivals no 10----
some of the remarks from ESPN's recruit evaluation--plays with great power and strength--plays fast with great intensity--strong technique--explosive tackler--great burst and closing quickness--excels attacking off the perimeter-displays great range and effort playing sideline to sideline--excellent pass rusher and a nightmare on the blitz-
yes fall practice is short-- but manti is a freak of a LB-- and of all the positions on the field LB is perhaps the easiest to play as a freshman as compared to Oline- DB--QB even WR
IMO charlie , corwin and mr tenuta are salivating at the prospect of adding Manti's incredible skills to THIS YEARS DEFENSE-- and i think it will be from DAY 1--- we have a really good looking defense as it is now-- but with this player we will be a NIGHTMARE on D for many teams!!
