Spencer Boyd is a def possibility after this weekend, heard he liked his visit better than any other school. Expect the Irish to have a legitimate shot at a Championship this fall. More depth at the Running game and a fast/quick defense plus Jimmy's footwork were just a few highlights from the spring game.

Spencer Boyd and Family are REALLY high on ND! I talked to his father for over an hour at the Gippers lounge on Saturday night! He told me some pretty cool and amazing inside info! I dont want to just post it up here for any one to see, But if any of you here at DD would like to hear what he had to say you can contact me here at DD and ask for my email adress. Not to be Debbie Downer here, but "a legitimate shot at the Championship this fall"? Everything I've read indicated that the team was only slightly improved, with Jimmy having a mediocre day and the defense still struggling with the running game. To me, that translates to having only 1 or 2 more wins next season. Hopefully Ill stand corrected come September, but the write ups on the Spring Game didnt exactly have me holding my breath....

I don't know if you have ever been to a spring game, but they are asolutely no indicator of how he team is going to be. You can take everything you've read about the game and throw it in the garbage, its no good at all. If no one gets hurts, its a good spring game in my mind.

I think that some of peoples excitement is coming from the media's write-ups, both national and local, about what they think of the team and our schedule.

last yr we were a 9 win team who underachieved. we had 3 games that we lost and should've won. 9-4 shouldve been our record, instead 7-6. Gotta roll with the punches, the team this year will win at least 8 games definately barring any key injuries.

ECHO-- i can't remember a notre dame team with so many PLAYMAKERS on both sides of the ball--- defense-- walls-blanton-johnson-B smith-Hsmith-D flemming-S brown- Z motta and soon Manti!!! offense--- floyd -tate- clausen- rudolph- allen- hughes -gray!------- thats 16 guys that can flat out make plays not just do a job----if you can't get excited about that then your just being stubborn!!!!

I'll stand with ya Echo. I think Jimmy Clausen is a good QB who can win a lot of games, and heck, maybe be even play in the NFL someday, but I don't think he is a National Championship level QB. He has limited to zero mobility, he eyes his WR's too long, can be extremely inconsistent, and he doesn't seem to rally the guys around him like the great ones do. I just don't see him making that crucial play or completing that 4th down pass that you need to make in order to be in or win a title game. I hope he proves me wrong in the next 1 to 2 years, but I'm just going off of what I've seen.

i love Motta & think he'll do great things for ND on sp teams this yr, but he wont play much defense unless maybe vs. a spread offense.
