Posted April 19, 200916 yr Guys, we started off hot with the 3 quick recruits...now, nothing. We lost some guys already we thought we had a great shot at... Henderson doesn't visit and now has an $c offer... We have the B&G game and noone commits (well at least officially that I am aware of)... I have reached for and pressed the panic button. Someone please talk me off the ledge...
April 19, 200916 yr toronto, relax. this is my 4th year of following recruiting on this board and every year i say its gonna be different and guess what??? it's not. we will get the kids we need. this process is like running a marathon. charlie and the staff are tireless in going after these kids. he will sell the product and they will either buy it or they wont. it wont be for lack of trying. we will be fine. trust me, this was a good weekend. we just haven't reaped the rewards, YET....
April 19, 200916 yr I just read every update written about the weekend and all the recruits were very impressed. Even the guys who've visited ND before said the weekend was special. They hung out with players, gave autographs, felt very welcome, and loved every minute of it. They rubbed elbows with lots of former players and stars as well. The recruits were completely blown away. ND is in very good shape.
April 19, 200916 yr A great season will guarantee us all the kids we need TC. A fast start and a win against the condoms could get us that #1 class again.
April 19, 200916 yr all we have to do is win, which by the way, is the end game. not recruiting. and i think we'll win as long as we start strong against Nevada and maintain that confidence
April 19, 200916 yr Go back in the recruiting threads to 2006. There have been a ton of kids we missed and a few that we got that we didn't think we would get. By the time all is said and done, this next recruiting class will be one of the best ones that ND has ever recruited. We are on the rise and we will end up getting Henderson. Gut feeling. Martin and Barr are supposed to be the two best players in a long time. We'll be fine. Crack an ice cold Wexler's and sit back and enjoy the process.
April 19, 200916 yr I continue to be amazed at just how well ND recruits given the circumstances. Flat out amazed. Uh folks. We are 9-15 since these kids hit the 10th grade. Including some of the most humiliating performances in ND history. Our HC publicly conceded he was almost let go last season. We haven't won a major bowl game in 16 years with one win in any bowl. And yet we could have a better class than 2008. IF ND WINS. CW is going into his 5th year. A lot of kids are going to wait and see how we actually do on the field. Only the kids pre-disposed to coming once they see ND are going to take any leaps of faith. Only ND could even be in this position.

Someone please talk me off the ledge... Panic Button? Its April man don't jump, ever since Manti I've taken a break from recruiting because it is such a long drawn out process. And speaking of Manti look what happend with him. Anyone here will tell that this is marathon and not a sprint.
April 19, 200916 yr IMO there are some special circumstances that will make recruiting difficult this year----- unlike the 2007/8- no1 -class which only had the one bad year to deal with and an empty roster--- the year was horrible but we played freshman and it was all explainable------then last year we held on becuase of teo-- and the fact that several good guys-- wood, evans. motta, stockton, stuck with us from early on, even though they must have been disappointed with our play. now however we have two bad things working-- FIRST we have a roster that is loaded as if we were a top ten team-- difficult competition all over and lots of youth---- and SECOND we are in the absurd position of having all that talent and having a coach and a program on the bubble for dismantling because of poor performances two years st8-----that is an unusual blend----you have to fight your way to playing time on a team that may suck!!!! This is a problem that falls on charlies head for last seasons mess and almost getting himself fired--- so in this regard -- even i have to be realistic-- its gonna be tough sledding for awhile-- lets relish any recruit we can get in the next 5 months!! Come october 1 when we have porven that we are very very good -- and that charlie will be here quite awhile-- things will improve, and we should have a very strong finish to recruting-- maybe even snatch a few players back that are gone------ bottom line--- NO ROOM FOR ERROR___ WIN AND PROSPER__ LOOSE AND DIE!!!
April 19, 200916 yr Great analysis of our situation Hawaii. As always you cut through the situation and clearly spell it out. Way to go.
April 20, 200916 yr Guys, we started off hot with the 3 quick recruits...now, nothing. We lost some guys already we thought we had a great shot at... Someone please talk me off the ledge... No need to worry bro, believe me when I tell you that we're sitting extremely well with Boyd, Riggs and Lo Wood. 3 FL DB's that are very talented and versatile. Prater and McCay also enjoyed themselves alot, so we made up some ground with them if it was needed, and we even caught the eye of a surprise visitor for the weekend, Geoff Gibson a 315lb defensive tackle from Vegas. Getting committments on BG weekend are just icing on the cake to what the coaches are doing right now. They're building some strong relationships with these kids, and in the long run "it will pay off" !!!!
April 20, 200916 yr Here maybe this will help a little bit more....... http://www.tharinger.com/Recruiting.aspx 4/19/09 Looks like Notre Dame had a successful Saturday w/ a couple elite recruits. Kyle Prater and teammate Corey Cooper were happy w/ the visit and ND should be in the thick of things for the duo. They seemed to impress OL James Stone so much that ND now is at the top of his list. Cody Riggs, Lo Wood(who is loving ND), Spencer Boyd, Nick Montana, Justin McCay, and James Stone are all staying an extra day in South Bend. Maryland LB Javarie Johnson, a candidate for The Hot List, has committed to Michigan. UPDATE: Looks like Johnson's HS coach jumped the gun and Javarie hasn't officially committed to Michigan yet. One more tidbit from the ND spring game. Stamford(CT) LB Khairi Fortt attended and a couple ND people I've spoken with seem to think they pulled even w/ Penn State after the visit. I'm hearing the exact opposite. I'm being told along w/ Silas Redd, Fortt is now seriously considering committing to PSU next weekend.

Usually doesnt have the latest
April 20, 200916 yr I agree Ziggy. Using TheRinger as a source should be banned. The Opinions expressed there are simply that, OPINIONS. They are based on hunches instead of legitimate information sources.
April 20, 200916 yr People hitting the panic button? It IS April,,,right? Just sayin' I know...it's happening a little late this year right?
April 20, 200916 yr Go to twitter and follow steveWiltfong I found his info last week. He evidently writes for scout. Looks like we made a big impression on all the recruits at the game. Also check out NDHFC Charlie has been throwing out the big what what!
April 20, 200916 yr Kyle Prater and teammate Corey Cooper were happy One way to know this site is crap... I do not believe they are teamates, just friends.
April 21, 200916 yr Go to twitter and follow steveWiltfong I found his info last week. He evidently writes for scout. Looks like we made a big impression on all the recruits at the game. Also check out NDHFC Charlie has been throwing out the big what what! Wiltfong writes great articles. I read his premium stuff all the time and dont recall him being wrong very many times. In fact maybe only once. The recruits told him they were seriously considering ND. For now all is well but you guys know as well as anyone else that teenagers are fickle and change their minds quickly. The good part is we are pobably in the lead or tied with someone else for everyone who showed up.
April 21, 200916 yr were going to be ok , forget the sports media, there bias, we will be very good and we get the true notre dame players , the rest are waiting on the bushtype DEALS . Nuff said , get that degree from the university of notre dame and hang in there with the best players in the land .
April 21, 200916 yr IrishDread, what was the extra day that Nick Montana decided to stay for? Because he came to attend the game, right? So Saturday wouldnt have been an extra day, right? Because i know for a fact he left at 6am on Sunday morning from south bend and landed at LAX Sunday morning. Just making sure your not giving out bad info. As of 12:00am Sunday morning Scott Boyd and Spencer were planning on leaving that day. Did they decide to stay Sunday morning?
