i will say i love reading your posts!! haha....keep shipping the Kool-aid

So that means I have 2 teams in there that might run the table! BSU and ND. To me it makes sense why those 2 teams specifically are in the list- ease of schedule/lack of difficult matchups, low strength of schedule - what ever you want to call it.

Only because I know some about BSU (being here in Boise area and a big follower of the Broncos) I can add a few reasons this is believable.

Boise State has 1 game against a BCS team- Oregon, the 1st game of the season for both - at home on the Blue. This will be their whole season- and it will be on Thursday nite on ESPN. They play Fresno State at Fresno in week 3, but should be able to win because of the returning team they have. Then they play Tulsa at Tulsa and that is it. They should be able to run the table if they are as good as they (and we local folks) think they are.

ND has the advantage of playing alot of thetougher games at home- (MSU, USC, BC) at home and many teams we play will bring young QBs in- and if our defense is as fast as we think they will be and bring more effective heat than last year, we have a great chance to win alot of games.

Many times its all about the match-ups and not necessarily about who is the best team.

A couple months ago I called ND vs Texas in the Fiesta Bowl.

we are going to field a TERRIFIC TEAM in 2009!!!!

You don't know how bad I want this to be true in January, 2010...

lets just beat nevada before we talk about bcs...

Most true statement I have ever seen.

Nevada will give us fits. Dead Serious.

As a list of "teams most likely to win the BCS title" why is Boise State even on it? You would have to have every other team but one with three losses before BSU could finish in 2nd place and make it into the game. How likely is that?

...and FYI, I love Boise and Boise State...it just sucks that no matter what they do they will not get into that game.

Ace- I agree with you that the chance is so slim its ridicules, but they are seen as the best chance of the non-BCS schools. Not because they are the best, necessarily, but the schedule favors them more than TCU, BYU, Utah or Tulsa. And having every big team w 2 losses vs BSU w 0 and if they make it up to the top 5 by the last weeks, Who knows what happens when many of the teams play their Conference championship games.

Likely? no, but more so than many other teams......

I love Boise State. Especially when they beat Oklahoma with the best plays I have

seen in a long time. It's just hard to watch them on that blue field!

Smart money knows ND has arrived. We will kill Nevada.

Oklahoma- you need to embrase the Blue- love the uniqueness and know it fits w the work ethic of the team- overachieving guys not recruited by the big boys. Man, I love watching and following them!

BSU has a winning tradition that goes back to at least the 60's. They have worked themselves up from Division II and now challenge for the top ten in the country almost every year. They always give as much as they get, don't get chippy or overconfident on the field, and put players in the NFL. All from a relatively small town on the backside of the rockies. I respect them as much as any team in any sport....And their fans are the best.

I don't want to be a debbie downer... But i can't get the last home game out of my head, you guys remember the senior game against syracuse?? And the next game?? Sc.... wow not a first down till the 3rd Q. So now we will win 10+ games? Oh ok, sounds cool..

I'm with you TD...optimism is great, but when you are an old dog like me you always reach a point where you just get burned too often. Rather than be positive or negative I just try to read what's happening. I was scouting a little league game years ago and when a made a comment about a pitcher who was about to be hammered by a particular hitter one of the parents asked me why I would be so negative. Exactly two pitches later when the hitter put one over the centerfield fence I replied "just experience". I guess to be more positive I should have said the batter was about to hit one out. The parent might have liked that better, but the result was the same either way.

We can talk about the good and the bad of ND football in a positive or negative way all day long...and we do...but the bottom line is will CW become the leader and head coach he needs to be to take all of the talent he and the boys have brought in and reach the BCS mountain top. For all of you Peanuts (Charles Schulz) fans, it's Sydney or the bush time.

unfortunatley by your standard tdnd we will never be any good--- after all this years team , and i hate to tell you ,but next years team as well-- are both going to comprise mostly the same personel that couldnt get a first down till the 3rd quarter against USC---- the same personel that only won 7 games in 08--THATS THE RUB--- by your logic of simply projecting last years late season collapse forward to 09 you got a 7 or 8 win team in 09 and since the same players will be up again in 2010 a 7 or 8 game winner then too!!!

I just think its a very shopworn complaint , in fact its the only criticism i hear anymore-"they stunk last year in too many games so who knows maybe we will stink this year, maybe we wont even beat nevada"

do we critisize the staff anymore?-- the latina syndrome-- no we dont

do we say clausen cant be as good as brady?-- no we dont

do we complain about team speed?-- no we dont

do we complain about the defensive schemes?-- no we dont

do we complain about depth?-- no we dont?

do we complain about the soft practices?-- no we dont

we dont do this because most of us our more then satisfied with all of those things going into 2009----- -- this team has a tremendous upside and WE ALL KNOW THAT---- i think so much positive has happened in the last few months a realist-- not a negative nancy--has to see there is powerful potential for not only a great season-- but two great seasons back to back---- --- IMO projecting all of last seasons negatives ahead to this season, for this team, is a LOOSING BET!! - ALOHA

unfortunatley by your standard tdnd we will never be any good

And unfortuanately, by your standard, we will ALWAYS be good....which just isn't the case. I don't disagree that we have it in us to be a pretty darn good football team this year. However optimism isn't going to do it for us...production will.

We can spew this same stuff over and over and over again for the next 5 months and it won't mean a dang thing if the team doesn't execute and produce. So I think that is the point that PursuitAce, Schell, Fanatic, Don Juan, myself and many others are taking. Not a blind folded optimist approach, but rather, the "we know you have no excuses this time so you better win" approach.
