Since the new depth charts are still using last years weights I was hoping

to get more info on actual weights of our players. Blue and Gold says

Paul Duncan is up to 320 lbs. Ethan Johnson is supposed to be 285.

Dion Walker is 191. Do you guys have any more info?

I tried to find them earlier, but didn't have much luck.

I can't imagine that everyone put on a ton of weight in two and a half months, but there were probably some gains. I'd think that the larger gains will be made b/w the Spring Game and fall camp where players have four months of working out.

According to Blue and Gold, Mike Golic Jr. is noticeably bigger. Guess here is

295.

Yeah, but I don't see him passing Cave on the depth chart, let alone Wenger. Actually, I could see Cave passing Wenger before I see Golic passing Cave.

Golic is supposedly 280+ which is a HUGE jump in his weight and he has been playing very well this spring but aint nobody passing Cave any time soon...IMHO

I really don't think Golic is going to passs the CAVEman, but the fact that he is

working out hard and getting bigger means depth and competition. Holtz used to talk

about how many offensive linemen he 'trusted'. The trusted linemen saw minutes.

Currently I think we have about 8 guys Charlie trusts. I recently put Nuss in that

category.

As far as all the actual weights go I think we will have to wait until the fall for them to

reveal all of them accurately. However, we do get little snippets such as Duncan at

320. Our line will be possibly the largest in America. Last year I believe it was Oklahoma

and they lost 4 starters....two of them in the 350 lb range.

I bet these weights are pretty close as far as our OL is concerned:

LT: Duncan - 320

LG: Olsen - 305

C: Wenger - 300

RG: Stewart - 325

RT: Young - 335

Cave - 310

Robinson - 295

Just checked last years weights and Stewart was listed at 337. When I look at him

on the practice videos he seems to be bigger then last year. I'm wondering if he isn't

350. Also Golic was listed at 280 last year so I expect him to be 'considerably' larger

then that according to Blue and Gold. I just think we are going to be massive.....

We have the summer months to go through.....this time period has been referred to

as ''the last chance to enhance"!!!!! This is really going to be a massive front.

I have never felt that the size of our O lineman has been an issue for us to worry about. It has been 2 things to me- Strength and agility. I would be happy with their massive size if they were more effective pushing the d line off the ball more and getting in the right positions to make the blocks on the second level. That is what I hope to see more of after this summer/fall camp.

yeah, nothin like seein' us get kicked around by a team the likes of SDSU. what do we outweigh them?? 30 lbs. per man?? pathetic...........

I remember last year- before the season started when CW was braggin that all of the O line were going to be over 300 bills and they all squatted a certain amount- and thought they would dominate because of those stats. Then we went out and got man-handled by smaller and quicker defenses.

Size and lifting numbers don't mean anything unless you back it up with the ability to translate that onto the field---which we did not last year. Plus if you are as big as a house and strong as Hercules, but can't pull out in front or reach the LB on a stretch block, you can't win.

that immediately begs the question of why do you call a stretch play when you out weigh the DL by 30 lbs per man?

truth was that the OL could not run block. goal line? i form? no particular success fromany.

Lines do perform better with more and more experience and we certainly have that

now. Let's not forget the progress we made in limiting the number of sacks. I have

predicted over 500 yards in our first game. It will be nothing like last year. Our offense

will be much better then 05. Optimism unlimited!!!!

Just read on ND Nation that John Goodman has gained 7 pounds since last year. He

states that he is even faster and credits the red shirt year to being much more physically

developed. His teammates say he can throw farther then Jamarcus Russell. What a

freak of an athlete!!!
