Joe was seen at practice sitting next to Charlie, do you think this helps, hurts, or has no impact whatever on the recruiting of Nick? I wish Nick would had been there with him. Also, recruits quarterback Steve Kaiser and defensive end Kenneth McClendon from St. Louis' DeSmet Jesuit, quarterback Christian Suntrup and running back Rob Standard from Chaminade in St. Louis were at practice

I dont think it has much to do with Nick at all. He does have another son who plays for ND, was probly just there to see his son and check up on the team as a fan. He gets the hook-up like that ya know lol. I did a lil research on the 4 recruits and theres pretty much nothing out there about them.

I didn't recognize any of the recruits but read on the Fort Wayne site that they were there, they might be offered preferred walk on status or something

Joe was prob just there to visit his daughter and see Nick practice. Nate is the #3 QB right now, so Joe wants to show his support

I thought he was number four behind Clausen, Crist, Sharpley - then, Montana

isnt nate the one on the team now? anyways, joe has been there for three straight practices, Mike Frank said on power hour he thinks this bodes well for the recruitment of nick

I haven't heard a peep on Sharpley. Mags even ignoring him.

I dont think Sharpley is coming back. I think he is going to concentrate on baseball and test the waters in the MLB draft.

Tommy Tuberville was in town today and will speak at the coaching clinic. He came by ND's practice sporting ND gear!

You know this is kind of funny because I read an article about Tuberville saying that he did not like ND because they never play anybody in the SEC.....it was in a ten worst complaining coaches article. An he shows up to practice sporting an ND jacket.

Well I racked my brain for the connection between Tuberville and ND. I was finally informed that CW and Tuberville went to Iraq this year together, and Tuberville is supposedly a hardcore Catholic. I wish I had a picture of him in that ND jacket though. To take a guy thats SEC to the bone and have him wear a ND jacket? Priceless man!

i heard that CW asked Tuberville if he wanted to help out on the staff after he was fired (Tuberville said he wanted to take the yr off). I dont know what Tommy coaches (offense or defense), but I know they became good friends (maybe after the Iraq trip) but I'm sure they've known each other a long time. Tuberville can recruit and has a lot of football knowledge.

Tuberville started out at as a grad asst. at Miami and ended as there defensive coordinator. He then replaced Bob Davie at Texas A&M as the defensive coordinator. Then he got his head coaching gig. Kinda interesting considering after this year our co defensive coordinator Corwin Brown might have his own head coaching gig. Also rumors are out that at the end of last year a couple teams were trying to get ahold of Tenuta to gauge his interest in a head coaching job. I dont know why Tuberville would ever take a job as DC, taking the step down from coaching. But, after what happened at Ole Miss, then what happened at UA after 10 years of being there head coach, he just might be sick and tired of the politics involved in it. Anything he would be willing to do to help out our team on any level would be a huge advantage for us. This guy can just flat out coach. Not to menion the name recognition he would have in getting recruits. For a quick checkdown of his resume and history search his name on wikipedia.

having successful college football coaches as friends and sounding boards is always a good thing. Also not bad for recruits to see Montana living at our spring practices. Ironically it won't impress our most likely get at QB, his son.
