tdnd81
So now we know Weis is, the HEAD coach..... Is that a good or bad thing?? I hope he can get it done, here is to a 9-3 season !!! If we go 8-4 I will drive to South Bend and escort him off campus,,, I'm tired of him saying "I'M the cook" etc... ok buddy, lets see it.. Remember Weis "6-6 is not good enough""...... or whatever he said

tdnd81
it was actually 9-3 isn't good enough........... HAHAAH well let me say 9-3 WOULD BE GREAT !!! Compared to the garbage he has shown us the last two years... This Q is CLASSIC...."" It sounds almost like their is going to be a lot of cooks in the kitchen"" The quick answer by Weis was..... ON NO... their is one cook...... You can erase that memory/vision ...... their is one cook... there are some helpers.....there is one cook...lets get that out of the way now...:shock: Tell me which Sonic you work at Weis?? If you heard it live you would think the guy has it all figured out and he is coming off of a back to back NC !! Ok Weis you are the cook, the master...thanks for the great coaching the last 2 years... Sorry to be a downer but this hit a nerve with me. Weis needs to step up this year, and quit talking the talk...
Katzenboyer
Good. The head coach should be on the field with his players, not in the box.
Junkhead
Good. The head coach should be on the field with his players, not in the box. True, but the Offensive Coordinator belongs upstairs, and he is convinced he has to be both. I'd rather see him upstairs and have Corwin run the show on the field with some emotion. PursuitAce
What is most troubling to me about CW is that he continues to sound like he is learning on the job... his, "we will try anything until we find something that works" attitude...and asking his mentors about coaching upstairs versus on the field. If you don't know exactly what you want to do, on the field or off, you are still learning on the job. That's fine if you are a graduate assistant to a high school team maybe. Not if you're the head coach at ND. One way or the other this will end.
domeanddomer
IMHO...CW provides very little worth to this team on the sideline. No passion, can't see the game as clearly. Other than some interaction with the QB, what good does he do on the sideline? Notice that the door was left open for going upstairs. He knows that this season, more than any other in his ND career, he needs to do what works with no excuses.
NicePost
{sigh} When in god's name will Weis grow up and stop going to daddy Parcells and Belichek for advice (especially considering it's been sooo successful so far)? As soon as he loses his first game, the second-guessing is going to start about being in the box versus the sideline. It will be a distraction that the team won't need at that point. Guest irishrick
81, here is my take on this fiel or box coaching , he will be the field coach on games where there is a 60/40 chance of the irish winning, this should be confirmed after fall practice, on the 40/60 games USC< and ect he will have a sore knee and work the box . as i see it i look for a very successful season at south bend this year, a lot of the games will be a win , but non will be the powerhouse games of the past until next year, IMO you will see crist get a bunch of snaps and will really push JC, but he will be the one to takes us to a Bowl Win . as always go irish . It seems that this is a persistent problem. Once the recruiting is over and done with, CW has to produce on the field while learning on the job. Frustrating. Guest SirJohn
domeananddomer plus others. Coaches always go steal the latest football news. If there is a new wrinkle way out in Nevada, they will be on it. It is a sharing job, so they do have to ask around. I'm glad he has two Pro guys to talk with and not a Ty Willingham sort. Island Domer
When you are uncertain about something, what do you do? A) you ask the most qualified people in that field your question, hoping to get some answers. B) You ask someone who is unfamiliar with the subject matter C) You just guess (A) sound like the right answer to me.
Guest naptownirish
On the field in the box...tick...tick...Charlie it's time to win.

echo88
See, the problem is that he is paid millions of dollars because someone believed he already had answered the questions on the test correctly. Answer A) should read: I use my own experience and decided schematic advantages to overcome any on field issues I encounter. I am glad I am not the only one tired of reading excuse after excuse. And another thing.......coach from the damn box.
aero_irish
I think it depends on what Corwin's plans are. If Corwin is planning on sticking around then I would love to have Weis in the box and CB on the field. If CB is planning on leaving in a year or two then Weis is in a situation where he has to go back to being on the field. I vote for Weis in the box and get CB ready to take control of the show down the road.
