I could use the target practice. They'll give these guys some money and turn them loose with a belly full of hot chow and a brand new AK-47. I told my friend who just got back from Iraq that the best thing to do is quit taking prisoners. Edited March 19, 2009 by TURK
Gettysburg Irish
This new AG is a complete a$$. To release them in general is wrong, to put them among US citizens is dead wrong, and thats how it will end up, with someone dead either them or some innocent person in society. Put them in gen pop at some US prison, I'm sure some body would take care of the work the government doeasnt want to do, or drop them off at the front lines in Afghanistan with a tracking device up their A$$ so we can find some more of their buddies. This administration is tougher on fetuses than terrorist!

Island Domer
Hey Turk, I have a boat in South Florida, want to take a ride to Cuba and take care of some loose ends there. I'll drive! HAHA My real problem is that they plan to go case by case and weed out the ones that were wrongfully imprisoned. Once these people have been wrongfully imprisoned, had advanced interogation methods used on them, and had their dignity stripped away; are they fit to live in the USA? If they were not terrorist going in they will be on their way out. (Granted i think this is an extremely small segment of the population at GITMO)
mcdougal93
If they are going to be released I think they should be released about 50 feet from the AG's home. There should be a law that stating that if terrorists, sex offenders, murderers and other criminals are to be released, they should be released in the neighborhoods where these bureaucrats or politicians live. Nobody wants these guys in their neighborhood unless it's for target practice like Turk said. Maybe our military should stop taking prisoners, unless they are high level targets that can be "tortured" into getting more intelligence. Island Domer
There are way to many Catholics on DD to start talking about fetuses. Just a suggestion.
Guest SirJohn
I have no problem with the AG's decision, despite many heated partisons here on the other side. If convicted and served time, and released isn't that OUR law? If unjustly convicted and held... is that OUR law? It's nice to talk tuff but back it up with facts. We were the dumbheads, numbskells and Busies to bring them to Gittmo so we have to get out of it somehow.

mcdougal93
I know it's not politically correct to say this but these guys are enemy combatants. Their main goal is to kill Americans and/or civilians in order to advance their extreme religious ideas. They haven't done their time. They should be tried in military courts just like war criminals should. If guilty, they should be executed. Why should we extend rights reserved to our citizens to people that seek to destroy us? It's unbelievable how terrorists and their sympathizers can manipulate our legal system in order to be seen as victims. Their own countries don't even want them back! But we should let these guys out into our neighborhoods? Seriously.

Island Domer
I was joking Gettysburg, my jokes ussually are off point though. I too am Catholic and the things that go along with it. I'm just saying here at DD I'm sure there are lots of non Catholics and Pro-Choice folsk to go along with the rest of us. Usually when people start mentioning fetuses and their rights, chaos insues. On BOTH sides. Sorry if I made it sound like you were pro-choice or not Catholic. See, I never should have typed the word fetus.

We were the dumbheads, numbskells and Busies to bring them to Gittmo so we have to get out of it somehow. Just to clarify...we are "dumbheads, numbskulls, and Busies" to detain people that continue to make it clear that their sole mission in life is to kill Americans? You are forgetting one VERY important thing John. These are NOT Americans and, IMHO that means they don't get to reap the benefits of the very ideals they vow to destroy. Exactly why is it that we are so concerned about the "rights" of terrorists that kill our citizens? Would you feel the same if we let these monsters go and one of them executes your daughter just because she's wearing the proud uniform of this nation's military? Is that an acceptable risk to ensure that these militants have received their "rights". To me it is not. The President should be far more concerned with protecting this country than giving these animals their day in court. I'm quite certain they would not afford him the same if the roles were to be reversed.

Guest TURK 182
When do we leave on that boat ride Dog???????? I agree with Mac & Gettysburg on this. These are prisoners of war and should be treated as such not handed the Bill of Rights. Oh yeah, sorry if a few innocents got swept up but as I recall harming innocents is what started all this. World trade center? 99.9% of these guys were caught dirty as hell. Edited March 20, 2009 by TURK
