He doesn't sound ND. IMHO.

Yeah we look like a REAL long shot after this article. But hey, it is an ESPN article and who knows what to believe from those _______. Hurts to hear him talk about U$C. Wish i could say it didn't, but then I would be a liar.

ESPN also didn't mention us among the favorites for Tai-ler Jones. Just saying.

Their evaluations have gotten better over time, but their interview/reporting practices are still a little suspect. Lets just give this thing some time and not jump to conclusions after one article, 'cause there seem to be two vibes on this kid - the Farrell/post ND offer vibe that we've seen most recently, where Stanford/ND/tOSU stand out, and the late last fall/ESPN article vibe that he likes USC and the rest of the world, wants to be his own man etc.

Like I've said before.............I've seen him play,... & I don't think he's anything special. Sorry........but I think his arm is not that strong, & his team makes him look better than he his.

sorry but i think all you guys are way too pessimistic about this recruit-- yes he isnt effusive about ND-- yes, he wants to be his own man--- yes he liked ohio state-- yes he seeems to like alot of schools-- yes he will enjoy a slow thorough recruitment--- But when its all done--- Montana will commit to ND!

Hawaii, you always have a way of seeing things in their best light. Always possitive and optimistic too. You're the man Hawaii, thanks!

For what it's worth, Mike Frank thinks he's the most likely of our QB offers at the moment

Article doesn't lean to ND's favor, but it didn't seem to lean to anyone in particular either.

Seems he's really keen on finding his "fit" and he's going to do his research.

He obviously does not have a sentimental allegiance to ND, which is a little disappointing, but I presume he knows about ND pretty well, not just from his dad, but his siblings.

Anyway, I think we need to pursue him aggressively like he were any other high potential kid, and not take him for granted... if he is what we want in a QB.

As far as depth chart, ND has to be favored over USC ... we have an empty hole in the 2009 class, so the 2010 QB is the likely successor to Crist (or the other Montana :-) ).

Let's face it. Daddy's room mate was Charlie Weis! Daddy has been on the sidelines for the last couple of years. His older brother is a walk on at ND. I think there is a high probability that he goes Irish. Of course, I am drinking green beer! Happy St. Patty's Day!

To take this a little further.......ESPN has a history of having glowing articles about SC and recruits. Remember the one about a certain DT (he will remain nameless but his initials are OH) who was committed to ND but was going to visit SC? They also had positive stories on Manti Te'o and SC even leaving ND out of the picture in the story I saw.

As far as breaking stories about certain recruits, ESPN is not that good of a source. I will say that their final rankings for recruiting classes seem to be better than one of the recruiting services.

dont 4get 2 sisters who are attending/graduated from there.

im not saying he ends up Irish, I'm just saying it's gonna take a lot for him to eliminate us from consideration.

I don't know if this kid would have gotten an offer if his last name wasn't Montana.

It's not that I don't think he's a D1 quarterback -- he will certainly hold a roster spot at the next level. But I think we'd look elsewhere but want to respect Joe.

I wouldn't be devastated if he doesn't come to ND, and wish him the best wherever he goes.

Well, it's not that I want to talk the kid down but I have never seen anything to make me think that Nick is elite.

I hate to say that I wouldn't care if he goes anywhere else but with my luck, as soon as I say that, he will go elsewhere and be the next "Tebow". LOL!

I just don't get ANY of the hype for the youngest Montana at all.

But HEY! JMHO
