Any word on how the guys are doing in the weight room? I would really like Clausen to be around 225lbs

Featured Replies

what was he last year? he went from like 184ish to 207 right? that's 23 lbs. Id like to see him get up to 230 lbs b/c after fall camp, he'll drop about 7-10 lbs.

I personally think 215 is the ideal weight for him. He's only 6'1" so anything more than 220 is kind of gaining too much IMO. I'm 6'6" and weigh 225 and that's considered my ideal weight for comparison. He's already slower than hell, and his arm mechanics are really good. I wonder if bulking up would screw up his....cough, cough, cough, ball rotation or spiral speed? From what I hear his head doesn't need anymore weight added.

He has proven he is tough, and can take a hit. We all know that. I think another 5-8lbs and he should be set. I agree with DonJuan on that one. A couple more lbs and maybe he doesnt go down as easily in the pocket.

He was 213 at the start of the season.

Isn't Jimmy "listed" at 6'3"? iono, those measurements are usually off 1-2 inches so you may be right.

He can definitely take a hit, but he needs the weight to get out of taking hits, escaping, and throwing it down field or running it.

was it 213? maybe he was 217 when he hit camp then. I think I remember it ending with a 7, so yea 230 would be perfect b/c it's only 10-20 lbs and he'll lost 5-10 in camp.

also lets remember, JC never really lifted before in HS. this should put more zip on his throws and make his legs stronger, so he can break ankle tackles and possibly get quicker.

I'm 5'11''.......6'10'' with the afro!

Low blow, low blow chiro. :)

Nice Fletch reference!

Well I don't know if this will qualify as info, but this is what I do know... The guys are doing a lot more speed training this year, I don't know if this is as a whole, but I can speak on the behalf of the defense. EJ is around 278, and KLM is 265.

LOL awesome

nuthin like a two pounder to make you feel a little lighter in the loafers.........

Clausen was listed at 207 as a freshman, but reportedly was 195. They then said as a soph he was 217, having gained 22lbs. Why should we believe 217, if they exaggerated the 207 in the first place. Who knows.

I can lose a few pounds in the morning with just one mud sprayin!
