IrishCalves
I love it. Seriously, nobody should be allowed to point to this guy as the main reason why we shouldn't recruit athletic QBs. Other arguments are one thing, but to point to one guy that got arrested w/ a roach in the tray, skipped a mandatory team meeting after being named the starter, tried transferring without telling anybody and now is a backup LB at Cincy? I could rip that argument to shreds. Hope "the General" enjoys playing defense.
Island Domer
Hey Calves, you were having to defend that point just two or three days ago. It's nice to know we can finally put that portion of the discussion behind us. D. Jones to be LB at Cincy? Don't think I could have guessed that yesterday if you gave me the whole day. This really brought a smile to my face. Thanks Ttown. On a side note, Do you guys think that Charlie had a harder time discerning quality character kids from not so quality kid's at first? It seems after his first 2 (or one) recruiting class he really sort of found a way to sift through the BS that you get while you are recruiting a kid. What do you guys think? Semper Fi ND du Lac
This is nice to hear but not quite what I would call karma DD. Karma would be lining up against a ND offensive he balled on. That would be sweeeeett karma!

I think I had that in mind when I reacted to this Island. At any rate, I think some of it is him sizing guys up better, and some of it is tweaking his approach to recruiting - maybe gotten better at selling kids on the school than he did at first, while toning down the "Patriots Super Bowl Ring" routine. D Fence
Wow, that discussion seemed so amiable. That coach Kelly must really be a cool guy.
chirodomer
I think DJ screwed up. He should've just sucked it up and been a team player. it looks like he is finally accepting his demotion. Unfortunately, it makes me wonder how that Cincy QB would do under center for the Irish since DJ beat out JC for the start. LMAO

IrishCalves
Wow, that discussion seemed so amiable. That coach Kelly must really be a cool guy. Hahaha... It only seemed amiable because a) Jones isn't holding any cards any more, and b) Jones didn't get quoted. I'm officially done discussing this kid. He's just a footnote or a reference point from here on. Best've luck with the rest of your career, Demetrius.

LMAO I think the main reason Clausen didn't start day one was due to our extremely inconsistent offensive line play and that's putting it nicely. Guest SirJohn
I'm with renig. Charlie had a good plan to rest JC, but have an explosive DJ offense. If you witnessed the collapse and DJ, deer in the headlights... The general mucked up. I am unforgiving on that aspect. I hope he gets an education and some contacts in this dire economy. General your not NFL

chirodomer
Hence the LMAO. We have the next Dan Marino behind center for us right now. Literally. We will see an incredibly more accurate JC this year. The game will have slowed down significantly for him this year.
tchris555
i posted on this but it mysteriously disappeared. all i said was that this lends further creedence to why people should chill on hte "In Weis We Trust" Doctrine. The whole, "if charlie wants him, i want him" BS is tired. If I don't think we should have offered a guy then I'm going to say it.

I don't think accuracy has ever been JC's problem, in fact I think he is one of the more accurate passers in all of college football. His problem from day one has been his decision making. Which, I'm hoping will be much better this year now that he has two years under his belt.

His problem from day one has been his decision making. Which, I'm hoping will be much better this year now that he has two years under his belt. I think he rushes his decisions because he thinks he's going to get sacked. He needs to improve his pocket presence... that's his biggest weakness, IMO, because if he can improve this element, he'll buy more time to make a decision. He also tends to lock on the intended receiver...

I think in the first cycle or two, ND was so horribly short on players that Weis wasn't too picky about much of anything. Not saying he didnt work hard and fill the cupboard as best he could, but he was in no position to be choosy.
