oh UHND.com there is a rumor going around that Jimmy Clausen committed on monday. I dont tend to buy into these rumors like that crazy mkallen guy(who is full of it and who emailed me and said I slandered him because I bad mouthed him about making up Young's commitment way before it happened). However, Jimmy did say he would commit early, Mike Farrel said that he believed ND had a silent fo awhile now, and a ton of other kids have been quoted as saying that Jimmy has talked to them about playing at ND together. There may be some truth behind this rumor. Yes, maybe im just wanting to believe, but what im really wanting to know is the truth. So i figure if anyone can find out someone on this board can find out. let me know if you guys hear or have heard anything.

two things to add...first it was a supposed commitment to ND and secondly the UHND poster claims a source at rivals

all i can say is i hope its true that would be great if he could pry great players away from other schools

Well let's just put it all this way.

 

If he VERBS this early or within a month. It simply seplodes. blows up, destroys and flushes any doubt that Notre Dame and Notre Dame alone is the place to go to school.

 

Reasoning, being IF he is as highly rated as all say he is doing so this early is GOLD for the Blue and Gold. It rips out the teasers by paid recruiting magazines and if his star ranking drops without a valid reason they are in hot water.

Clausen has verbally commited to Coach Weis. There is no doubt in my mind. All the clues are there. Listen to his fathers comments and that about seals the deal. I initially was told it was going to be alittle after signing day that the announcement would break. Right on schedule if you ask me!

Frazer and Jones had to know this was a possibility. Additionally, I would understand not saying anything before but they've already signed their LOI's so no matter what they'd lose a year in a transfer. Would anything substantive change between now and when "the recruit who is not to be named" would commit (May, August, December, February)?

I don't really know why Shamrock but I gotta think the kid wants to take in some of the recruiting process. Which is probably a good thing so he doesn't start rethinking his commitment come fall.

 

Ryan makes a good point that he would wait until after signing day so Frazer and Jones don't jump ship. yeah, they have a good idea he may be coming to ND but before NSD nothing is definitive to them.

 

Just a thought here. Remember for the 2006 class Charlie was very strategic on alot of the commit announcements. He may be waiting until the second junior day or even the May evaluation period for clausen's announcement in order to ride the momentum that he will most definitely create.

Just my 2 cents, but if I'm Weis, I'm not announcing anything. If it leaks, it leaks, but I wouldn't make a big deal out of it by formally announcing it, and I darn sure wouldn't give any interviews soley about Clausen. If I'm Jones or Frazer, and Weis has put visions of QB'ing the Irish in my head, I'd be taken aback by all this hoopla over a junior kid, especially if Weis announced it as if Clausen was the second-coming (and I don't think he would). Yeah, I know the LOI's have been signed, but that's secondary to having the two new QB's in hand who could bring a dejected attitude to the practice field. Weis wants these kids heads in the game. They're not going to come with the right attitude if they believe that they are just keeping the position warm for Clausen. When it's formally known, I hope it doesn't come from Weis, but from the "athletic department" of ND, and if asked, Weis should say something to the effect of, 'Yeah, he's on board, and now he can get in line with everyone else for the position.' This Clausen love fest should end, as it's got to be a downer for Frazer and Jones. We need their respective heads in the right place, and if the Clausen rumor is true, it should be handled low-key by Weis, for the sake of our two new QB's (remember those guys?).

First of all Weis isnt allowed to say anything until nsd 2007. Big recruiting violation if he does and he already knows that so dont expect anything from ND. Every player at every position every year has to realize that someone is going to be trying to take their job. Frazer and Jones are both competitors and im sure in both of their minds they are better than everyone else and if they didnt believe that I dont think they would be here!
