Not sure how you guys are about premium stuff? I know on other boards it's frowned upon to share this stuff. I get these from a fellow Irish fan that who I've never even met, but his wife works with my wife's best friend. In it, it has some ridiculously high praise for Zeke Motta. It was saying that all the upperclassmen are blown away at how good this kid really is. It also stated that Mike Ragone looks like a beast right now as well and wans his spot back in a bad way. It cited several different players in the article and also said Jonas Gray dropped a couple pounds and wants some serious touches this year as well. Comments about Tyler Stockton were that the guys could'nt believe how strong this kid is already. They also said that if it's even possible, Michael Floyd looks even stonger. The one thing that grabbed me though, was that they said Duval Kamara looks incredible and does not want to concede his spot in the WR rotation. The article said that this is the best looking team they have seen physically at ND in a long time. It stated that they look in great physical condition and in tremendous shape. All I could think about was that with all the really solid players we have now, we are going to have some fierce battles for starting spots and guys wanting to be in the two deep. If you guys dont mind me posting this, I am supposed to be getting another update in a couple few days the article said. I apologize if this is against board rules.

Great post. It isn't against the rules - as far as I know. However, it may need to be moved to the General Forum.

this, if true (and it probably is but i take these sorts of articles with a bit 'o salt) points to maybe the single biggest benefit of the CW-era ( so far). and that is competition at nearly every position. nothing is better. period. and to be honest, it hasn't been around ND since the what? the mid-90's?

now, we *all* understand this has to lead to wins this season but we need to recognize what a deficit we've been running here these last few years. notice how our bad losses all came at the end of last season. that's a depth problem because we were clearly tired and battered. hell, just missing floyd those few games nearly crippled our offense! that cannot and will not happen again. depth is an great antidote to what ails a football team and we're *finally* at the point were depth is a plus, not a minus. it's about freakin' time...

pardon my ignorance, but how is he observing all of this? Are they practicing already?

Yeah, I thought they weren't practicing til mid March. Was I wrong about that AlwaysIrish? Great info though, gets me excited, regardless.

I imagine he is reffering to workouts and 8 on 8 drills that the guys do -not officially associated with the program.

Thanks Scott! So do they do these drills on their own time, or do they have coaches and staff that attend?

Nice post alwaysirish...keep'm coming

I think technically coaches are not supposed to be over seeing practices, but there is a reason why so many colleges have built coaches offices overlooking the field.

Sorry I could'nt respond, but I was away at work. In the email I got it did not say who this was observed by, but I will be more than willing to share this email with anyone who would like to get it. You can email me at chryslerdfs@msn.com and I will forward the email to any of you and any good stuff I continue to get. I'll share the wealth with whomever wants to read it.

I bet Kamara will have a much better junior year. He cant be instantly counted out because of his slump last year. Who knows Floyd could have a sophomore slump as well. These things happen.

I too think Kamara will have a good year. Last year he came in heavy, so hopefully he keeps his weight down & knowing that these frosh/sophs are going to push him will make him work harder in the offseason

To get him going again on redzone fades and be the big body WR that just fights everyone off almost like a Plax type guy would be awesome.

I agree. His size is a huge benefit and I feel like he needs to learn to use it more to his advantage.

I think this is the key to what happened to Kamara last year. My old coaches used to really crack down on guys who put on weight in the offseason because is was usually a very telling sign of not eating right and/or not working out as much as you should have. My old S&C coach used to tell us it took 2 weeks to make up for 1 week of "bad" eating / not working out as much as you should.

Hopefully Kamara realizes that he has to work year round to be where he wants to be.....especially with the guys that we have brought in at WR.

IMHO Kamara probably wasn't feeling any heat from the competition during the offseason, and maybe let himself go, thinking he had a definitive spot in the starting line up. With the influx of talent at the position, I expect Kamara to come out and play ball like the Shark and Stovall in their junior years.
