A well respected Michigan website has a write up about how 2008 Michigan was no where near as bad as 2007 ND. The write goes on to say they should expect 8 wins next year (nearly impossible in my mind considering a true freshman will start at QB for them). Anyway, I find it fascinating that big time Michigan boards are still trying to rationalize 2008 by saying "well our 3-9 wan't nearly as bad as ND's 3-9".

For those who like to follow recruiting, this site (as well as MGOBLOG) has excellent recruiting coverage from an opponents perspective.

Since I'm not sure what the linking rules are (or how to do it) below is the address.

What's that quote from the original Fast and the Furious. "It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile...winning is winning."

There is no such thing as a "better" 3-9. It's still 3-9

OK , now I'm confused. Did my original post automatically put the web site address into a link or did one of the mods help me out???

They lost their best RB, as well as their starting QB.

Whatever "experience" they gained in the backfield is nullified. Everything starts with the RB/QB tandem in the backfield, and they are starting fresh for the most part again. A few good options, but McGuffie made their attack scary

Not to mention, the D WILL take a few steps back. 6-6 would be a reasonable goal.

It does this automatically.

Although I don't doubt Michigan's fans rationalizing their disasterous season, to reach back and bring us into their argument seems silly, their odious performance stands on it's own merits. We need to humiliate them this season on the field, then their insueing meltdown will be palpable.

to their credit, ND was the only team McGuffie did well against. But i'm not sure if Minor would do better

I believe he was referring to this coming year. They lost Threet, who was their primary starter, and they lost K-Fed, who was their best back.

So, they are back to square one in the backfield. Though, I do think Minor is a good back, just not as elusive as K-Fed

And their defense won't be nearly as good as it was last year.

My prediction right now is 5 wins.

they always say how ND fansare the most delusional, but Michigan fans are probably the most delusional fans I've ever seen. They never lose, they "give the game away" to lesser talent (btw, everyone has lesser talent than Michigan)...

I love how he compared our O-line in 2007 to their's this year. How ND's unit gave up more sacks, but you cna't really compare due to the offenses, that offense limits the number of sacks given up because the QB is either running, handing it off, or lateralling the ball. You rarely see the QB do a 5 step drop.

UM fans are a sad and pathetic bunch. It sounds like them to try and make a 3-9 season justifiable by saying "at least we were better than ND's 3-9 team in 07" They are some of the most unbearable fans in all of sports!

You got that right. Michigan fans havent changed a bit over the years. Believe it or not though SC fans about 20 years ago werent as bad as they are now.

You guys don't know the half of it, I live between Ann Arbor and Columbus - aka "College Football Hell"

I am with you Fanatic. I am smack dab in the middle of the worst fans EVER. I think tO$U fans are far worse, but scUM fans are completely clueless.

Why I chose to live in Dayton Ohio is still a question I will never be able to answer.

I feel your pain on that one too Fanatic, I was born and raised in Toledo.
