spencer boyd a standout player from southwest florida looks very happy with the irish offer--- he is 5-10--- 165--- pretty speedy 4.45scout-- 4.5 rivals--this is not going to be a top 100 player-- and may end up just a high 3 star-- but the staff like him-- his offers so far are just from the braniac schools-- duke-- vandy-- wake-- so he is ND material academically no doubt-- a smart kid with a smart family-- apparently they want him to jump on the ND offer--i love it when the whole family is stoked for ND---yes its true he isnt an elite player but he is a good one and we need SO MANY DBs in my view ill take a bunch of CBs as long as they can RUN!!

It's not if you played. It's how much time you actually saw. Raeshon played less than 15 minutes all year. Brown played approximately the same. I am pretty sure we win these battles with the NCAA. We will see at the end of next season, but I am pretty positive that's how it works for our guys; since we don't play the redshirt game.

i think ur partly right, but they both played in 11 of the 13 games in their frosh year. They are not redshirts. I think if they only have a few appearances in the first few games then they can still be redshirted. I believe that's the case with Braxton Cave this year.

i would really love to see rasheon or sergio get a 5th year and it would be huge for the defense-- but alas i dont think they will be elgible no matter what calculation might be tried-- too bad though-- but i guess at the time we were really short on players so- cant cry over spilled elgibility!

Our safties our fantastic but i think solid is the best word to describe them. Not that thers anything wrong with that but wouldnt it be nice to have a taylor mays, laron landry, or sean taylor(r.i.p.) like safty back there that will put fear into recivers going across the middle. I think thats what deffensivly would put us over the top a playmaking safty it really hurt losing starling i belive

Ziggy is right.

Both Brown and McNeil saw game action in 11 different games. Both were credited with four tackles each. And, per Blue-Gray Sky (http://bluegraysky.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html#116823429507349663), McNeil saw a combined 36 minutes of playing time (about 2/3 special teams), while Brown saw 49 minutes of playing time, almost all of which was special teams. Any way you slice it, they're done unless they sit out this year.

And eligibility isn't preserved on the basis of minutes played. It is based on how many games they participated in. Its why guys like Rhema McKnight, Matt Romine, and Asaph Schwapp were able/would have been able to preserve 5th year of eligibility, because they all got hurt early in the year. I can't remember if its an injury sustained before the 3rd or 4th game of the year, or if it is done by a percentage, but there is some typical protocol that determines whether a guy stopped playing early enough to preserve a year.

From several web sites the following players will be eligible to apply for a 5th year in 2010:

Wade

Walls

Burkhart

Thats all for that year.

has stanford offered 100 guys this year or just everyone we've offered?

I swaer we do the scouting for them and Florida.

A quick look at Scouts shows Stanford offering 64 guys so far. let me see if I can check Rivals - nope, can't break the code on offers from that team site.

Espn has 101 profiles set for them, but can't tell how many have been offered out of that.

only prob with that scenario is Stanford offered most of our guys b4 we did. In almost all of the recently offered's recruiting stories Stanford is mentioned as already offered. Florida's usually a diff story though.

I thought Olson could come back as well.

Saw PT as a frosh. Played in 8 games per und.com, for a total of 21 minutes of PT per blue-gray sky. Hasn't sat out a season since.

Two academic schools trying to build a name for themselves, Stanford and Duke, are casting massive nets this year. We're dishing out more offers at a faster rate than ever before in the Charlie Weis era, but Stanford is just crazy. And the funnier part is, a lot of their guys they've offered haven't even gone through admissions yet (Tyler Gaffney found out in January if I recall correctly).

Seriously, I know we're itching to go, but we are pumping out offers at an astonishing rate for the way ND recruits, seeing as we rarely have a non-qualifier offer (sometimes we go ahead and offer borderline guys and keep them in the loop about their status - Jonathan Baldwin being an example). 4 QBs, about 10 DEs, about 7 WRs (not sure on guys like Robert Woods), a goodly number of OTs too...

I think it makes the low # of offers at RB and DT very telling. We're probably going for one a piece, nothing more.

I wouldnt be shocked if none of them return. Either by NFL draft, or lack of an invite.

i'd be shocked if Stewart isn't invited back and doesn't come back. It would mean he had a monster year this year. I think it's similiar with Olsen and Wenger as well.

The rest of the guys i agree. Probably all gone after this year. Who knows with Walls though

Check out Boyd's highlights. He may not look like an elite player but I like his film.

wow i can't remember the last time i saw a player take a knee to pray after a touchdown. if that's in fact what he was doing that's gotta bode well for us.
