spencer boyd a standout player from southwest florida looks very happy with the irish offer--- he is 5-10--- 165--- pretty speedy 4.45scout-- 4.5 rivals--this is not going to be a top 100 player-- and may end up just a high 3 star-- but the staff like him-- his offers so far are just from the braniac schools-- duke-- vandy-- wake-- so he is ND material academically no doubt-- a smart kid with a smart family-- apparently they want him to jump on the ND offer--i love it when the whole family is stoked for ND---yes its true he isnt an elite player but he is a good one and we need SO MANY DBs in my view ill take a bunch of CBs as long as they can RUN!!

.....and tackle!!

We are fine on DBs... We only need 2 or 3 corners and a safety.

After this year, there will be 5 corners (if Walls comes back for a 5th year which he probably will) and 2 safties (H. Smith and D McCarthy)...how is that fine at DB?

isnt slaughter a safety?

I think he is listed as a corner, but could play safety...either way we will only have 7 DBs on the roster after this season.

Don't be too surprised if Walls doesn't return for a fifth year. Even though he had a year off, I believe he will have a breakout year and be a legit draft pick. This guy totally reminds me of Charles Woodson and I think his future is very very bright.

Banks

Slaughter

Blanton

D. McCarthy

Harrison

Gray

Maybe

Gordon

Walls

Even assuming we moved Banks AND Slaughter over to S, that would barely be enough to complete a two deep for each secondary position IF Walls doesn't go pro and Gordon wants to stick around for a 5th year. We'd need at least 4 DBs, probably 5, to feel comfortable moving forward.

Exactly, I think Cody Riggs, Spencer Boyd, Sean Parker, and Corey Cooper would be a nice DB haul, with possibly either Daniel Smith or Tai-ler Jones rotating in for added depth...or perhaps someone else who has yet to be offered.

Lets add LaMarcus Joyner to that list... hes a 4.35 corner out of Miami... lists us in his top five... FSU, Miami, Florida lead...

Just a hunch but I would throw Dan Fox in the DB category eventually...with his size I bet he ends up getting looks in the backfield too

I don't .

6'4" is pretty big for a collegiate S. Freaks like Taylor Mays are one thing, but Fox is a good but not great athlete.

Its not a terrible idea, but I don't see him making an impact at S. If we're desperate, we might try it, but he stands a much better chance of helping the team at LB, even if its in a special teams role.

how many years does Sergio Brown have left?

This is his last year

Brown came in with Aldridge. He has another year.
