well the first name has bubbled up-- randy hart-- 20 years coaching the washington huskies DLINE-- thats a long tenure-- obviously coaching changes have seen fit to keep him--he knows recruiting after 20 years in college--- he is older , about 60 ,so would clearly be a mentor for YOUNG--- this is all going to happen real fast now-- so if you have any guesses better get them in quick-this will be done in a few days i think!

I wonder if everyone is holding out for the "pleasant surprise" that Chance Carter was talking about being told by Weis. I think maybe who he was talking about at the time was Luke Fickell.

I think the pleasant surprise was still Romeo Crennel, which was true. I read on Blue and Gold that they were about to make things official, but then decided it wasn't the right time

yep thats the sad story franco-- i bet they had planned to make the announcment today as well-- only bummer of the day for me-- but what can you do---i dont know much about hart and have no idea who they will hire now-- but it will be real soon-- and unfortuantely it will be a fall back pick-- but lets wait and see -- its not like an OC or DC--- it will turn out ok I HOPE!

yea honestly this guys not a bigger get than Stripling, plus I view stripling as a sure thing. Think weis F**** up on this one dicking around with dreams of crennel.

what's the difference between the two? both have a proven track record & one (Hart) is the better recruiter. honestly cant go wrong with either of them.

I fail to see posters gloom and doom and blame game. If it was to be Romeo, it was. Things just could not be worked out this time around and he is having that hip replacement.

What's good is this puts Romeo close to the program down the road. It couldn't hurt recruiting, TV and players to have him on the sidelines some. My glass is half full. :)

i think Randy Hart will be fine---we have alot of strong personalities on the team -- alot of em-- and i include verducci and alford as well-- this guy is a true position coach-- its all he ever did -its all he ever will do--and dont go by what happened with ty-- he had like zero talent on the dline-- lasting threw 4 coaching changes-- is almost UNHEARD OF, FOR AN assistant coach!-- i dont know about recruitring-- but he cant be worse then jappy and he may be much better--- and dont underestimate the impact of BY as his assistant---all in all -- i think this is an excellent staff -- led by charlie corwin and tenuta--- we have a GREAT OC__ in charlie__ a GREAT DC in tenuta__ a GREAT recruiter motivator and all round coach-- ( maybe our next HC down the road) with CORWIN-----hey im happy--- cant wait to load em up for spring!!

another thing we dont have to worry about is guys like Tenuta, Verducci & Hart leaving to be HC's. These guys have been around for awhile and they know they strive as assistants. We have up & comers like Corwin, Ianello, & Alford who want to be HC's some day and that's great for them, but it's always nice esp in recruiting to have a stable group of guys year in & year out. I'm sure Hart could be replaced in a few years by Bryant Young, but I'm just saying he wont leave for a HC gig.

Honestly guys did you think ND was going to get of top end guy with B.Young waiting in the wings to be a DL coach. Hart will be fine, we have enough experience on the defensive side of the ball coaching staff to cover everything, let these guys do their job.

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. I hope Hart does a good job with the talent that we currently have and hopefully the additional talent that will come in. Always helps to have more proven recruiters.

After reading the news of the likely new addition of Coach Hart, I googled him to see what news is out there. I found this story on Scout from a Huskey reporter who has some pretty strong feelings about the guy. I'm liking what I've read so far on him, especially the part in the Scout article where the reporter says that another team "will pick him up and their team will instantly become tougher." I like that.

Wow... that was an awesome character testament. I really like what Baird had to say of Hart. That is the old school that ND needs.

I think Hart is the better mentor for BY than Crennell... for the simple fact that he's been a solid position coach his whole career, and been around the COLLEGE game his whole career, as a player and coach. He's seen it all.

This pick-up appears to be another winner of a hire, and Sark was dumb not to keep him as he seems to be deeply associated with what it means to be a Husky... and for us, it seems his attitude is in keeping with what we (or I) like about ND Football.

His ties to Washington recruiting can't hurt us with Jake Heaps. Added bonus?
