Charlie Weis Presser info (free article)

Yeah, I don't see Brown sticking around much longer if this is the case...which will really hurt in recruiting...

I don't think that CW planned on Brown sticking around too long anyway - which is probably why we brought JT in. Brown has head coach written all over him and IMO this will probably be his last year at ND.....

i think you guys are reading too much into this--- there is a free article just up on rivals witha followup interview on this exact point--- weis said absolutley not a demotion-- that it was corwins idea since they are short a coach with charlie being now the OC-- charlie said he would never do anyhting to leave corwin unhappy-- that corwin is HIS GUY-- and they have been talking about this adjustment for awhile--- so this is not a case of too many cooks-- in fact without an OC it may be a case of not enough cooks--- feel free to post a link to the article-- its a very thorough reassurance that corwin was not offended or demoted AT ALL

I like what Verducci said about the O line.

His attitude gives me a ton of hope for next season.

If the line can get it's act together, we could see some incredible offensive play next season.

There's way too much talent, including the line, on offense for us not to be great.

I think it's going to run with Brown being, essentially, the Head Coach of the defense, and Tenuta being the play-caller. Kind of like Weis with Haywood last year. If Charlie is in the booth, Brown will become the de facto head coach on game days. If Weis is on the sidelines, then Brown will just be the defensive hc.

yes, since CW is the HC he has to oversee offense & defense, but now he's appointed Corwin as the Associate HC so he can oversee the defense since CW is back to being the OC. That is why it's a promotion not a demotion. Corwin & Tenuta are still going to be going over the gameplan etc, but Tenuta will call the plays. Kind of how CW went over everything with Haywood, then Haywood called the plays. Tenuta & Ianello are the Assistant HC's for Offense/Defense, which is lower then Associate HC.

I agree this will prob be Corwin's last year unless he wants to stay on and win a Nat'l Champ first. I know it's a stretch, but he might want to see this past year's frosh graduate and see how it goes. I'm sure he wants to be a HC though.

I'm really excited about the Alford & Verducci additions. The one knock on Latina was his adjustments & it seems like Verducci can see what the OL has to adjust by watching film without even working with them.

I love Corwin as a motivator & a recruiter, but Tenuta has a proven track record and I think our defense will make another leap forward this year.

i really loved verducci's comment that he will make sure that the guys will never be out worked, out efforted, and will be smart. he also said that the deficiencies are correctable...?! aside his comments, my favorite line was alford: "i not here to make people happy. I'm here to win football games." i think that has been the problem the last couple years. charlie's first 2 years i think he was mor of a hard-ass and more demanding; however when the average age of teh team went down into the teens he softened up. i think charlie reverts to his old self, and mix that with tenuta, corwin, alford, bryant young, and verducci and i think that leads to a bunch of hard ass coaches -> lead to higher player expectations-> better and more consistent performance->WINS!

i think ziggy had the analysis of the details of the moves pretty spot on!----i dont see this as bad or causing difficulties at all-- in fact i think tenuta will do a great job calling defensive plays-- and corwin will have plenty to keep his plate overflowing----one thing though i am not at all sure corwin is as motivated to move on as many think--- he is a very young guy first off-- second if he gets a HC offer it isnt going to be michigan or lsu or ohio state-- its gonna be colorado state or indiana or some other second - third- tier school---- fact is if we do as well as i expect next year-- we can expect the same for a few more years--- charlie as has been pointed out is a long long way from being robust--charlie will no longer be a LAME DUCK by any means----- corwin can IMO become the HC in waiting here at ND!!---so what would you do-- go be the HC at kentucky or some other program that has just fired a guy and trying to rebuild-- or wait two or three years-- and take over a loaded-- turned around --NOTRE DAME-- still one of the biggest jobs in sports-- as charlie says about corwin HES MY GUY--- well maybe he will be our guy too after a few great seasons

I love Tenuta taking over the play calling on D too.

I think it's a HUGE upgrade.

No offense to Corwin, but Tenuta's been doing this a lot longer.

I'd also rather have a front 7 coach calling the plays instead of a secondary guy.

Not saying that Secondary coaches can't be good D coordinators, but in this particular case, I love Tenuta being the man making the call.
