With Lombard, Martin, and Smith already coming our way... who is left on everyone's top 5.

 

 

I'm not sure who my top 5 would be as of yet but I know I'm putting Barr as my number one right now.... his YouTube clip is beast-like. The kid could be plugged into many positions and dominate.

Sentreal Henderson has to be at the top of my list, along with James Hurst. We need big time OT in this class.

 

Also, we need another true NT, a big time player there. I don't know who that is yet, but hopefully someone.

 

Jake Heaps is also on my list, though I'm highly doubting that will happen. But, maybe the Teo commit will influence him the most.

 

Barr would also be in my top five.

 

So it is as follows:

4. Heaps

5. Barr

It's always fluid but of the prospects left:

 

1. Seantrel Henderson : perhaps the #1 player overall and has the size and athleticism to step right in at a position of dire need.

 

2. Seantrel Henderson : See above. Yes, he is important enough to warrant #1 and #2 status

 

3. Chris Doyle, University of Iowa S&C coach : I know he is not a player but I'm telling you, having lived in Iowa and reading about this guy, he would make monumental changes in the way the team plays. Nothing against the current coach but I don't see how it could be argued that ND plays nasty and physical in its current state.

 

4. 3 DT's: I don't care what their names are, I don't care where they're from. We're not in a position to be ultra picky. Find some guys that will bust their ass and can make the grades and I'll take them.

 

5. Anthony Barr : Anytime USC drools over a kid like they are, you know they've got the right stuff. Plus he has the size and athleticism to play a number of positions on either side of the ball.

Honestly I'm not sure where we are at with most 2010 guys. I'm just starting to move past the 2009 class.

1. Seantrel Henderson: How many opportunities are we going to have with a number one prospect in a need position at a pipeline school. This kid needs to be Irish.

2. (would have put Chris Martin here!!) Dietrich Riley/ (S. from Cass Tech) Would really like a game changing safety.

3. Top 5 QB -Would like to see some more offers go out at this position. I don't think Heaps will decide soon and the some of the best QBs go off the market fast

4. Khairi Fortt- would like to start taking an impact LB every year and everyone is after this kid. He seems to like ND as well.

5 Aramide Olaniyan- Can't remember who brought up the thread with this kid, but I was blown away. Very physical and just fun to watch. Drove up for the junior day really wants and offer.

ND is great shape with Barr and there is lots of talent in Indiana and Illinois, this is shaping up to be a great year.

I totally agree with your first 3, except to say any top 2 QB (read Heaps).

Heaps is going to make a decision in the summer before the start of his senior season so he can help recruit to his school.

A couple things,

 

First, to all you people saying nose tackle? I think you mean DE. Nose tackles on are roster are Newman, Williams, Stockton, H. Williams. Our DE is so much in more need of players. We need playmakers on the outside. PRESSURE ON THE QB. Sadly enough, it's one position we haven't targeted that many people outside of Chance Carter.

 

Second, I'm just not on the Heaps bandwagon. I wouldn't mind getting him but I just don't know actually how good he is. Maybe his senior year blows me away but I think we need to go after the other big guys, particularly from the South and West to get a gamer at QB. To Heaps credit, he is a gamer. He does perform well in games but at camps he really hasn't impressed all too much.

 

Third, WE NEED A PLAYMAKING SAFETY.
