USC official release of recruits didnt have Starling on it either which means he hasnt faxed his LOI in yet

apparently TJ Bryant (Starlings teammate last year) didnt fax his LOI in til the next day.

 

Also if you sign an LOI and there are witnesses, then it's a binding contract.

 

Tommy Bowden was actually talking about this on ESPN today when his dad stole a recruit from him after the kid had a press conf and signed for Clemson. He changed his mind to FSU, but there were witnesses that said he signed Clemson's LOI. It's first signed, not first faxed

USC's NSD announcement does NOT include Starling's name.

b/c he didnt fax his LOI. already established that.

For what it's worth-the wearesc.com message board has been updated to state that his LOI has been received.

as is scout, but I think they were just going off his press conf.

 

USC's official website does not have him on the list and their press release did not have Starling's name

The wearesc thread was originally about 5 LOIs that had not been signed and was amended to 2 outstanding LOIs.

Like i said earlier, we will get two more guys today. Already one on the board with te'o and i was right about that... oh the suspense!!!:D:D

BTW, I felt good about us getting Te'o and either Toma/Starling. This is why i said we would get two more guys earlier and i think it will stay true...

Just watched Toma's vids, very quick, good hands, great cutting ability and vision, he would be a perfect slot receiver, hope we get him.

That might have worked for Tommy, but that isn't necessarily true. You can establish that the acceptance of the contract is dependent upon the performance of faxing the contract with the signature. One might be able to argue that it is custom in football that coaches haven't bound the kids until their letters were faxed to the school. That would be my argument, at least, and that argument would fly or not fly based on your jurisdiction. Tommy got it to work for him, but that isn't the guaranteed rule. I would fight it out.

i think the difference in this case may be b/c he's not 18 yrs old and the parents didnt sign it yet.

Word is Starling is still talking to ND coaches. Good sign that he is even communicating with them, but who knows what will happen.
