According to Charlie in the presser, 15 min after Teo announced for ND we picked up another recruit...he didnt name anyone...but stay tuned.

Not to beat this to death, but what Charlie first said was, that 45 mins after he announced he got a call from some recruit. He went on to say that he couldn't mention a name but you guys (reporters) are good at sniffing these things out. Why would he put it that way if it was an 09 recruit who will be signing a letter? He later stated that they were still in the hunt for some others because of Teo which leads me to believe he was talking about this year's recruits. So I think reading between the lines there is both, a 2010 and possibly one or more 09's.

The '09 recruit is more than likely Roby Toma (potential not signed yet though)

 

The '10 commit is LB/DE Chris Martin.

 

CW talked about Teo's effect on the '10 class and thats when he said 15 mins after his announcement we got another.

 

Then he said we have another potential to add, we have room for 3 or so more guys, but id say there's def potential to add 1 more.

ehhh, adding Toma would feel dirty to me, like the dreaded "package deal". Even if there's no truth to it, it's hard to dispell (and other schools love to circulate lies about us). And then other recruits might ask to have similar treatment for one of their teammates and be upset when they aren't given it.

i hear what your saying-- but norm chow apparently was really high on toma--- so its not charity-- and anyhow i wouldnt call it dirty thats a little strong-- maybe a little dusting thats all---we do what we have to!

If it were a package deal Toma would already have signed on the dotted line. This is more of a last minute thing. Te'o himself stated he had no clue where he was going until this morning. I highly doubt Weis would resort to a package deal scenario, he really seems genuine and honest when it comes to his recruiting efforts and I don't think he'd sink to that level.

 

I would also think if they were a package deal they would have visited together for the Syracuse game.

or a replacement of oliver with a guy of seemingly similar skills and size. if he was agreeing to come in as an athlete cb/wr that would be a great fit for the class.

Ultimately though no matter what scenarios arise there are always going to be ND haters. I think that's part of what makes ND great, to be perfectly honest. They hate for a reason, in certain ways they are jealous. Some fans of the USC's and Florida's of the world may not have anything to be jealous of as of late, but they are no doubt jealous of our history. With the recruiting efforts of Weis and the rest of the staff I'm sure we'll be adding to that history in the near future.
