Sporting News has their recruiting edition out today. They have Teo as the #2 overall recruit for 2009. They have a section entitled "What's one thing you'll always remember from your recruiting visits?" Teo was one of the 5 selected and here is what he said:

"On my visit to Notre Dame, a lot of people in the student body wore leis to the game. I think before the game they were told that they couldn't do that, but a good many of them still wore them".

Cool that we were the one thing he would always remember from recruiting.

Then of course later on it the edition one of SN's analysts picked UCLA.....anyway, just thought I would pass along.

excellent article ziggy. I like the part where he says that he feels comfortable in small towns that are faith based.

Both he and his father complimented CW.

I think that statement spoke volumes about his decision. I think he is all Irish. He has no reason to rush his decision. I think he is just taking his time makeing a decision that will affect the rest of his life. If he goes somewhere else I wish him good luck. All the evidences says this young man is an exeptional person.

I hope he cones to south bend , but i wish him the best where ever he decides to go . Go irish

Ziggy,

Wouldn't Pete Carroll's history with LDS Missions put major doubt in Manti's mind? I gotta believe Manti would only choose SC if he decides he isn't going on a mission. Maybe he eliminated BYU because he already knows he isn't going on a mission.

I can just imagine Petey's lying smile while he said "once a Trojan always a Trojan." Great line though. I guess that is why he is a great recruiter.

Yah petey acts like a real players coach and acts like he loves all his guys until one of them decides to leave early, then he throws them right under the bus.

I do not recall PC ever getting upset about anyone else leaving for the NFL. I actually understand him being upset with Sanchez. The guy left too early. He only played one year, and really could have used the extra year. Sanchez may end up getting drafted higher this year than next.....but he has pretty much condemned himself to a life of clipboard holding and signaling in plays.

It seems like he is a real quality kid. ND material all the way. Seems hard to imagine a kid like this wants to go to a school that is surrounded by barbed wire and slums, while the students and PLAYERS drive 40 to 80 thousand dollar cars. LA is the kind of place that is almost completely void of spirituality. I pray he's Golden!

I wouldn't say that's necessarily true about him holding clip boards. And to me, it would have been moronic for him to stay at SC and Petey knows it. The NFL is a business....nothing more. Ask Pete how much money Sanchez would give away between going this year and next year when 2 heisman winners, that are both better than he is, enter the draft. This wasn't even a decision for Sanchez the second Bradford said he was staying. Oh...and nobody seems to remember the knee issues he was having. Do you think Pete was going to cover the signing bonus Sanchez is going to get this year if he came back and blew out his knee? Yeah...I didn't think so either.

You gotta take your money when you can get it in the NFL.

I dont agree. The number of high-caliber qb's who opted to stay was higher than any year I can remember. So why would he stay to go against them in next year's draft?

His decision will garner him millions in extra dividends compared to a Matt Leinart who did stay, and who is now condemned holding clipboards on the sidelines. I think Petey was being selfish on this one and only thinking of what it would do to USC's NC implications if he left early.

Clearly anyone would see this as a good decision on Mark's part given his circumstances. So why not the Poodle? Because he goes from a definite to an indefinite NC contender. :D

+1, co-sign, etc.

The elite guys can usually buy insurance to protect them in case o injury. Of course, this is if the parents can afford it. Sanchez is smart to come out this year.

Don't agree with me BI...that knocks the earth off axis a little man! That's not our MO my friend!:-D
