Thats weird. IMO you make room for a kid with 4.4 speed no matter what system you employ.

since the other thread was wandering and this story seems so solid i thought a quick summary of everthing we know about this in damiens thread was in order-- no offense ziggy for repeating your info--maybe this will be the ONE you promised me! ---personally im hoping to hear in the morning that he cancelled his visit to ucla and is coming here this weekend-- seems to me that if goes out there the whole thing is sketchy---

Would seem to be a perfect revenge for an 18 year old. Kiffen tells him he's not good enough so he goes to the school that lost the guy who replaces him.

very Poetic

I think it was more of a clash between personalities than systems, iono

They are capituling and pretty much expecting him to commit to ND. His parents are very impressed with the Irish. I love it. Karma is indeed a bitch.

Am I the only one who is not blow away by his film? He looks like a great little player but his film reminds me almost exactly of George West's film a couple years ago. I also think Oliver loooks faster than him. Still looks good, but I don't think he'll make any bigger of an impact than Oliver would have. Plus, he's shorter.

What position is ND looking at him for anyway?

I believe they are looking at him as a RB/Slot kind of kid....Percy Harvin-ish....(not talent, but position)

Then it's definately a weird offer. Cierre projects as a RB/split out type of guy.....wannabe Reggie bush style. Then we have Theo Riddick.....3 RB's?

he projects as a CB or slot WR/scatback like Oliver was supposed to be.

But better...

But better...

alright but then I don't see why Monte Kiffin would go through all this to re-land Oliver and basically allow his "upgrade" to walk out the door.

Probably because Oliver is going to play DB at Tennessee and Thigpen wasn't.

Alright that's the last negative question from me on the subject. Might as well land this kid and hope he's a Sproles or Getherall.

i understand your skeptics. 1st question is if he's better than Oliver, why didnt we offer Thigpen first? Well Thigpen was the 2nd commit to Tenn and when Fulmer was fired he was the first to come out and say he was staying committed plus Oliver called us. Oliver's tape might look better, but his reg season competition isnt really that tough. not many d-1 prospects, most of them are on one team (Hoboken) which is a group 1 school and they're mostly linemen, not skilled guys. St peter's Prep (Oliver's school) is Parochial Gr 4 which is the toughest division in the state b/c of Don Bosco Prep & Bergen Catholic

Athletically, Thigpen faces more all around athletes in VA than Oliver.

Id much rather have Thigpen than Oliver. On top of that Thigpen can play multiple position and does well. Oliver would only play offense for us. Staff doesnt think he can play CB and he's too small for safety. Kiffin has Oliver coming in as a safety. So this is another situation where we would be getting a d-1 athlete on campus with top end speed and just seeing where he falls. Lets hope he's Irish.

Ok thanks for the explanation. One thing though, I think i'd trust Monte Kiffin's opinion on if a kid could play DB.
